In case you missed it: Vice director visits DLA Energy

FORT BELVOIR, Va. –

It was a busy week at the Defense Logistics Agency Energy as the organization welcomed DLA Vice Director Brad Bunn for a fourth quarter leadership brief while celebrating several major milestones across the enterprise.

Bunn met with DLA Energy leadership in the Kunkel Conference Room at the McNamara Headquarters Complex on July 17 to discuss the organization's progress toward its strategic objectives. The visit began by recognizing four DLA Energy employees for outstanding contributions to the agency's mission before leadership provided updates on global inventory; sustainment, restoration and modernization efforts; infrastructure initiatives and key organizational results.

The visit came during a week of meaningful activity for the organization, including an employee appreciation event on July 16, the signing of the Australia Fuel Support and Chilean Navy Fuel Exchange agreements on July 17, and the DLA Energy Pacific (Japan) change of command ceremony on July 21.

During the vice director's visit a demonstration of the Request for Proposal Generator was presented, an artificial intelligence-powered tool designed to streamline the contract solicitation process. The modular application can produce a draft 200-page solicitation in less than 10 minutes. This was a task that previously required one to three weeks of manual effort. The generator helps contract specialists ensure consistency and compliance with updated regulations while freeing up resources for other tasks.

Leaders also showcased efforts in Citizen Developer Pilot Program: Digital Fluency Initiative, a new effort to build a digitally fluent workforce by equipping employees with the skills to leverage data and emerging technologies in support of the mission. The program's inaugural cohort will complete a 12-week training program designed to empower employees to identify and develop technology-driven solutions to everyday challenges.

The discussions reflected DLA Energy's continued focus on utilizing data with speed and accuracy, strengthening supply chain partnerships and investing in its workforce to meet evolving global energy demands in a contested logistics environment.
