NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania –
With the spookiest time of the year upon us, the tenants of Defense Distribution Center, Susquehanna lined the streets surrounding the Child Development Center and the installation fire station to hand out candy to approximately 120 ghouls, goblins, superheroes and princesses on Oct. 30.
Standing alongside Defense Logistics Agency Distribution commander Army Brig. Gen. Richard B. Dix and his wife were members of Fire Station 69, DLA Distribution headquarters employees, Sparky the fire dog and Batman.
“It’s all about giving back to the kids,” said Dix. “They are our future workforce.”
The employees of the New Cumberland, Pa., installation donated candy and small toys to make the parade a special event for the children of the CDC. After making the rounds to collect candy, the final stop on the parade route was a meet and greet with Sparky the Fire Dog.
Batman was portrayed by Renee Tambellini, a DLA Land and Maritime employee who is currently working with Distributions Current Operations Department.
“We had a batty time!” said Tambellini.
