Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Sigonella, Italy, administrative support assistant Eva Maria Perez Sanchez was honored as one of the agency’s top 10 employees during DLA’s 48th annual employee recognition ceremony Dec. 10.
Sanchez, who works out of the distribution center’s Rota, Spain, detachment, is responsible for daily reports to DLA Distribution Sigonella at Rota and Fleet Logistics Center Rota. The reports enable both organizations to make timely decisions.
Sanchez tracks on and off base deliveries, routinely recommending adjustments to schedules to support customer requirements. She is responsible for the Daily Cargo On Hand Reports submitted to Commander, Task Force 63, allowing Sixth Fleet to direct cargo for all Navy and Marine units in Europe and Africa. She also provides monthly transshipment reports, hourly production reports, tracks all Casualty Reports and manages Government Cargo Recovery Effort reports.
According to DLA Distribution Sigonella, Italy, deputy commander Fred Hildrich, Sanchez’s innovative solutions to customer requirements are unequaled. “The contributions Ms. Sanchez provided to the Navy Destroyers that completed a homeport change to Rota during this performance period are what set her apart.”
Additionally, Sanchez accurately filed over 18,000 documents in 2014. This was an increase of 20 percent from the previous year. The increase in workload was attributed to the 2014 arrival of Navy Destroyers, the Forward Deployed Regional Maintenance Center and Commander Destroyer Squadron 60.
“Ms. Sanchez, through her daily reports, ensured everyone was well informed upon the arrival of all parts supporting the maintenance of the ships,” said Hildrich.
He added that Sanchez has also been a great asset in preparing the site for audit readiness. “As a Navy Warehouse Transfer site, processes at Rota are administratively challenging and require a great deal of determination to understand the Navy processes while trying to implement DLA Distribution Audit Readiness standards,” said Hildrich. “Ms. Sanchez has been instrumental in leading this cultural change.”
As the Standard Operating Procedures and Job Breakdown Sheets were received, Sanchez translated those that applied to Rota into Spanish and presented them to the workforce, contributing to the site’s increased production effectiveness.
