Turn-In Instructions

Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Defense (CBRN-D) – Individual Protective Equipment (IPE) Clothing and Textiles: All chemical/biological protective clothing and masks specifically designed or modified for military operations and compatible with military equipment.

Class II Support Division (CIISD) personnel are available to verify National Item Identification Numbers (NIINs), make arrangements for all turn-ins and to resolve questions about CBRN-D/IPE property. The point of contact for inquires to Joint Equipment Assessment Program is SMBLOGCOMJEAP@USMC.MIL.

The generating activity is responsible for removal of filters, canisters, and filter systems prior to transfer to CIISD site. Protective masks will not be accepted with filters or canisters attached.

The generating activity will submit the completed Disposition Request Form to CIISD. Do not turn CBRN-D equipment into DLA Disposition Sites. Follow the steps below.

The property will be coded DEMIL F on the DTID, and the generating activity will provide a copy of the DEMIL instructions furnished by the generating activity.

Step One: Check to see if your equipment is on this NIIN List to ensure it is an asset that can be accepted. The Defense Accountability Reutilization and Disposal (DARD) will not accept any hazardous materials. If the item is hazardous the generator must contact the local Environmental Office for turn-in.

Step Two: Fill out the Disposition Request Form.

Step Three: Email a copy of the completed form to smblogcomjeap@usmc.mil. You will receive disposition authorization within 5 working days.

OCONUS locations will follow the guidance above however, If CIISD personnel determines CBRN-D property as unserviceable, CIISD can authorize the generator to utilize DLA Disposition Services sites for demilitarization (DEMIL) of CBRN-D property/material. At time of turn-in, generating activities must provide the authorization email/documentation from CIISD program office in addition to the 1348-1a. If DLA Disposition Services site does not have the capability to DEMIL, sites will send property to nearest DLA Disposition Services site with DEMIL capabilities via Site-to-Site Transfer (STO).

DLA sites are not to receive CBRN-D equipment without CIISD authorization, but if they do receive unauthorized CBRN items.
