October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Oct. 7, 2021 - Since 1981, October has been National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The observance serves to educate communities, individuals, couples and families about the Family Advocacy Program services and other community resources that can help prevent domestic violence, raise awareness of community responsibility, and inform the community of the many ways to report domestic abuse.

DSCC plants saplings at MWR Sports Park
The Defense Supply Center Columbus Installation Management Team planted 50 tree saplings at the DSCC MWR Sports Park this summer.
July 22, 2021 - The Defense Supply Center Columbus Installation Management Team planted 50 tree saplings at the DSCC MWR Sports Park this summer. The saplings were donated through an Urban Tree Project partnership in consult with the City of Columbus and the Urban Tree Master Plan Project to identify sites for potential tree plantings and expand the city’s existing tree canopy.

May 25, 2021 - Meet Taysa Markus, a shining star at DLA Land and Maritime, in the latest episode of the DLA Rap produced by DLA Headquarters. Markus defines resiliency. At the end of the Vietnam War, her family took on hardship, adversity and trauma and persevered. Today Markus is an electronics engineer with Land and Maritime’s Engineering and Technical Support Directorate.

Chief of Staff’s Travel Log: Dawes Arboretum
April 16, 2021 - Dawes Arboretum appears to be a local favorite – an attraction on many local resident’s bucket lists – located in Newark, Ohio. What began as a farm and then became the land’s second owner’s dream fulfillment started as a 140-acre farm and has grown today to be a 2,000-acre rolling hill arboretum.

 

About Wellness Council

Wellness Council LogoMission

Our mission is to create a forum in which Council Members may share ideas, examine issues or concerns and discuss current topics relating to the effective mitigation of Wellness Council issues and customer support. The Wellness Council will work in conjunction with programs for wellness, promoting awareness, and “holistic wellness.” Members will provide input and suggestions to Command; Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR); Health and Safety and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) on possible programs and activities.

Vision

Wellness is much more than simply the absence of sickness. It is optimal physical, mental, and emotional well-being, a preventative way of living that reduces-sometimes even eliminates-the need for remedies. Wellness emphasizes personal responsibility for making the life-style choices and self-care decisions that will improve the quality of your life.

Purpose

Promote total wellness at work, at home- for life by:

  • Increased awareness
  • Enhanced existing venues
  • Recommending new opportunities
  • Reach people where they are
  • Support DLA Wellness Initiative
  • Make health and wellness part of the workplace culture
  • Motivate employees
  • Keep employees informed of wellness events
  • Have fun!!
