Marcia Mitchell's Retirement Reception

Aug. 13, 2019 - It is with mixed emotions that we announce the retirement of our beloved and much appreciated Marcia Mitchell.

DSCC talks trash
Nicole Goicochea, lead environmental protection specialist at the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime, spoke with seven preschool and prekindergarten classrooms about the environment April 15. The discussion focused on landfills and why it’s important to reduce the amount of refuse generated.
Aug. 6, 2019 - DSCC Environmental Division is focused on reducing solid waste diversion for the installation. The installation minimizes solid waste generation through source reduction, recycling, reuse or composting. The Environmental Division has made it easy for associates to participate in assist in meeting its goals and help the environment while also providing tips for continued efforts at home.

Faith services offered at DSCC
The Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime Chaplain Liaisons Program falls under the Executive Programs at the Defense Supply Center Columbus.  The liaisons are employees and contractors who volunteer as chaplain liaisons throughout the Operations Center serving the Christian, Jewish and Islamic faiths. They often give invocations at various command sponsored events, including the Equal Employment Office Special Emphasis Programs. The Lead Chaplain Liaison is Mary Moore.
July 29, 2019 - Chaplain Liaisons provide encouragement to employees in support of the spiritual pillar of the DLA Land and Maritime Resiliency Program under the People and Culture Directorate. Bible Class and Prayer Warriors groups formed at DSCC in the late 1990’s by a small group of employees and a volunteer Chaplain Liaison of the Christian faith.

PaCER Proteges save the government time and money
Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime Demand Supply Chain Analyst Christopher Rodriguez and DLA QMAC Customer Account Specialist Jeffrey Day reviewing the CAS/Order Fulfillment SharePoint Website they created.  The site offers the community an easy to navigate interface with forum for online discussion, policies, organizational charts, point of contact listings and the most up to date order fulfillment Job Aids available.
July 29, 2019 - In the midst of the current DLA cash crunch, two DLA Land and Maritime associates have indirectly developed a few ways to save the agency some money. DLA Demand Supply Chain Analyst Christopher Rodriguez and DLA Maritime Customer Relations Customer Account Specialist Jeffrey Day have collaborated on quite a few projects in their two-year tenure in the Pathways to Career Excellence Program (PACE) at DLA Land and Maritime Columbus, Ohio.

Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime acting Deputy Commander and Acquisition Executive Mark Brown shared his experience on the subject of leadership with associates during the “Brown Bag Lunch Leadership Conversation.” The event was hosted by the Leadership Development Council July 10 in the Operations Center Cardinal room at the Defense Supply Center Columbus.
July 16, 2019 - DLA Land and Maritime acting Deputy Commander and Acquisition Executive Mark Brown shared his experience on the subject of leadership with more than 30 military and civilian DLA Land and Maritime associates during the “Brown Bag Lunch Leadership Conversation.” The event was hosted by the Leadership Development Council July 10 in the Operations Center Cardinal Room at DSCC.

 

About Wellness Council

Wellness Council LogoMission

Our mission is to create a forum in which Council Members may share ideas, examine issues or concerns and discuss current topics relating to the effective mitigation of Wellness Council issues and customer support. The Wellness Council will work in conjunction with programs for wellness, promoting awareness, and “holistic wellness.” Members will provide input and suggestions to Command; Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR); Health and Safety and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) on possible programs and activities.

Vision

Wellness is much more than simply the absence of sickness. It is optimal physical, mental, and emotional well-being, a preventative way of living that reduces-sometimes even eliminates-the need for remedies. Wellness emphasizes personal responsibility for making the life-style choices and self-care decisions that will improve the quality of your life.

Purpose

Promote total wellness at work, at home- for life by:

  • Increased awareness
  • Enhanced existing venues
  • Recommending new opportunities
  • Reach people where they are
  • Support DLA Wellness Initiative
  • Make health and wellness part of the workplace culture
  • Motivate employees
  • Keep employees informed of wellness events
