Chief of Staff’s Travel Log: Dawes Arboretum
April 16, 2021 - Dawes Arboretum appears to be a local favorite – an attraction on many local resident’s bucket lists – located in Newark, Ohio. What began as a farm and then became the land’s second owner’s dream fulfillment started as a 140-acre farm and has grown today to be a 2,000-acre rolling hill arboretum.

Teal Ribbon Relay, April awareness activities gain momentum as Land and Maritime hits nearly 800 miles
The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support will host a number of virtual events to mark Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month. Events start with the Teal Ribbon Relay, which runs throughout the month, and concludes with a Denim Day observation on April 28.
April 16, 2021 - Numbers continue to pour in as the Teal Ribbon Relay hits its mid-point with less than two weeks to go in the Defense Logistics Agency’s signature Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month challenge.

Chief of Staff's Travel Log: Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park
Battelle Darby Creek features more than 7,000 acres of forest, prairies and wetlands. It stretches along 13 miles of the Big and Little Darby creeks, both State and National Scenic Rivers. Besides the areas surrounding the creeks, there are also over 1,600 acres of restored wetlands and prairies.
April 8, 2021 - Took a trip to Metro Park’s Battelle Darby Creek, southwest of Columbus. This place is a gem! Well groomed – and wide – gravel trails are easy-to-moderate and in great condition. There are views of the Darby Creek, running fast now as we get into Spring.

DSCC Toastmasters Clubs to host joint meeting, competition March 31
DLA Land and Maritime EEO Specialist Michael McCoy speaks during a Toastmaster International Club 3500 meeting inside the operations center at Defense Supply Center Columbus. The installation is home to three Toastmasters clubs and each promotes resiliency through engaging associates to become more confident communicators.
March 26, 2021 - The Defense Supply Center Columbus is home to three Toastmasters International Clubs and this week anyone assigned to the installation will have the opportunity to see how Toastmasters may benefit them when the three clubs host a joint meeting and competition.

DLA award winners announced, eight from Columbus workforce named
The Defense Logistics Agency announced the DLA 53rd Annual Employee Recognition Award winners this week. Columbus secured top honors in six categories, recognizing eight associates and two teams for their outstanding contributions over the course of fiscal 2020.
Dec. 18, 2020 - Eight Columbus employees and two teams garnered top honors in the 53rd Annual Employee Recognition Awards announced by the Defense Logistics Agency this week. Three award recipients are assigned to DLA Land and Maritime’s Land Supplier Operations Directorate, two work for DLA Installation Management – Columbus and the three remaining individual awardees are from the Safety and Occupational Health Division, Procurement Process Support Directorate and Joint Reserve Force, respectively.

Our mission is to create a forum in which Council Members may share ideas, examine issues or concerns and discuss current topics relating to the effective mitigation of Wellness Council issues and customer support. The Wellness Council will work in conjunction with programs for wellness, promoting awareness, and “holistic wellness.” Members will provide input and suggestions to Command; Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR); Health and Safety and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) on possible programs and activities.


Wellness is much more than simply the absence of sickness. It is optimal physical, mental, and emotional well-being, a preventative way of living that reduces-sometimes even eliminates-the need for remedies. Wellness emphasizes personal responsibility for making the life-style choices and self-care decisions that will improve the quality of your life.


Promote total wellness at work, at home- for life by:

  • Enhanced existing venues
  • Recommending new opportunities
  • Reach people where they are
