‘Never borrow from yourself’: Customer account specialist shares best advice of his 50-year career
Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime Customer Account Specialist Chester Parker will celebrate five decades of service to the nation in December. Parker started as an Army private in 1970 and retired as a master sergeant in 1993 before transitioning to federal service. Parker said one of the highlights of his career was working as a drill sergeant assigned to Fort Dix, New Jersey.
Nov. 25, 2020 - This week marks five decades since a young Chester Parker entered an Army recruiting center and embarked on a federal career that took him around the world. Today, Parker is a customer account specialist with the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime’s Land Customer Operations. In this capacity he serves as the “face” to Army and Marine Corps customers and engages with them daily to understand their specific logistics needs.

Vision loss doesn’t stop DLA associate from achieving dreams

Oct. 15, 2020 - The last five years have been kind to Gregory Ramsey. The contracting specialist met and married his wife, embarked on a new career at Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime and became a father. In an interview for National Disability Employment Awareness Month, he described this time in his life as a whirlwind and how he’s able to “see” better than ever despite being legally blind.

DSCC activities support Domestic Violence Awareness Month
Sept. 30, 2020 - October has been National Domestic Violence Awareness Month since 1981. The observance serves to educate communities, individuals, couples and families about the Family Advocacy Program services and other community resources that can help prevent domestic violence, raise awareness of community responsibility, and inform the community of the many ways to report domestic abuse.

Senior leaders talk ethics during virtual training
The Office of Counsel at Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime hosted a live virtual training seminar on ethics Sept. 14. The session featured a panel discussion with members of the organization's leadership team.
Sept. 18, 2020 - The Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime’s Legal office sponsored a scenario-based virtual ethics training session Sept. 14. The session featured a panel discussion crafted to help associates empower and position themselves to make the right decision when challenged with an ethical dilemma.

Land and Maritime commander talks 2020 successes, reconstitution during first town hall
Navy Rear Adm. Kristen Fabry hosted her first Town Hall Sept. 10 as commander of Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime. The event was live-streamed to accommodate the DLA Land and Maritime associates currently on maximum telework or located at shipyards and detachments across the country.
Sept. 11, 2020 - Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime Commander Navy Rear Adm. Kristen Fabry shared her leadership philosophy and impressions from her first two months on the job with associates in a DLA live-streamed Town Hall Sept. 10.


About Wellness Council

Wellness Council LogoMission

Our mission is to create a forum in which Council Members may share ideas, examine issues or concerns and discuss current topics relating to the effective mitigation of Wellness Council issues and customer support. The Wellness Council will work in conjunction with programs for wellness, promoting awareness, and “holistic wellness.” Members will provide input and suggestions to Command; Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR); Health and Safety and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) on possible programs and activities.


Wellness is much more than simply the absence of sickness. It is optimal physical, mental, and emotional well-being, a preventative way of living that reduces-sometimes even eliminates-the need for remedies. Wellness emphasizes personal responsibility for making the life-style choices and self-care decisions that will improve the quality of your life.


Promote total wellness at work, at home- for life by:

  • Enhanced existing venues
  • Recommending new opportunities
  • Reach people where they are
  • Support DLA Wellness Initiative
