Introductory Information
PUB LOG® is intended for use by the public who require National Stock Number (NSN) and other publicly releasable cataloging information including Federal Supply Classification (FSC) data and Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE) codes.
PUB LOG® can be downloaded from the FLIS e-Reading Room. Updated products with complete datasets are uploaded on the 1st of every month. All proprietary data and service unique data on the NSN is excluded. Most public and contractor requirements are satisfied through PUB LOG® tool and the download contains both the classic version and the new, user friendly “IMD2” version.
PUB LOG® does not have refresh capabilities when new data comes out every month. The user is recommended to delete the older install and re-install the newest PUB LOG® package at the beginning of each month. The download can be found at PUB LOG® - Public Logistics Data.

To install PUB LOG® onto the hard drive for usage:
- Select the newly downloaded PUB LOG® file named AUTORUN.EXE to begin application install.
- When the "Welcome to Defense Logistics Agency Information Operation PUBLOG®" screen appears, configure the following:
- Choose from one of the following installation options:
- Abbreviated (shortcut icons only - least amount of data control)
- Typical (executables and shortcuts - most common installation)
- Complete (entire disc contents - most amount of data control)
- Abbreviated - recommended for individual users, offers the least amount of control where the software and data reside because data and executables are left in the file location where they were extracted. Therefore, it only copies the application shortcuts.
- Typical - recommended for users with data stored on a network server, offers data to be left in original extracted folder but copies executables and shortcuts to the installation folder.
- Complete - recommended for users who want the most amount of control over where software and data reside, it copies all data executables into the installation folder.
- Choose what type of installation is desired:
- 64-bit executable - recommended for all modern Windows systems for improved performance and functionality
- IMD2 executable - newer and more streamlined graphical user interface
- If you want a shortcut on desktop, ensure the check mark is beside Add a shortcut to the desktop.
- Lastly, select the Install button.
- When the "Install" pop up appears, confirm check marks are in all appropriate spaces and then select Done.
- PUB LOG® application is now installed on the computer whether you selected Classic 64-Bit (PUB LOG®) or IMD2 (NEW - PUB LOG®).
