Civil rights leader speaks at MLK Day of Service

Richmond, Va. — Defense Logistics Agency Aviation welcomed civil rights leader Lonnie King Jr., as the honored guest at a Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service presentation Jan. 30. Co-sponsored by DLA Aviation’s Procurement Process Support Directorate and Office of Equal Employment Opportunity and Diversity, King’s presentation drew nearly 350 attendees to the Frank Lotts Conference Center at Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia.

DLA Aviation celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

Richmond, Virginia — Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, employees celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with an opening ceremony Sept. 26, 2017 in the Lotts Conference Center. The guest speaker was Miguel Zayas, division chief of the Procure-to-Pay Process Cycle Integration, Defense Logistics Agency Acquisition, Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Zayas emphasized volunteering for difficult jobs and his determination to excel at each task, no matter how menial, have been the keys to his successes.

Richmond, Virginia — Defense Logistics Agency names Tech. Sgt. Lashaundra Myers as Non-Commissioned Officer of the 1st Quarter of 2017 for her personal and work accomplishments.

Defense Logistics Agency Aviation at Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, embraces its history and reflects on Black History Month. During the mid to late ‘40s, the base publication “Sword and Key” (Feb. 1943 edition presented) would run a separate section in their magazine for their colored personnel revealing that Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, dealt with the same cultural issues of the time.

DLA Aviation shows veterans some love

Members of Defense Logistics Agency Aviation showed their love for the veteran community Feb. 10 at the Hunter Holmes McGuire Veteran Administration Medical Center, Richmond, Virginia.

The Defense Logistics Agency selects Air Force Master Sgt. Gabriela Camarillo as its Senior Non-Commissioned Officer of the Quarter for the 1st quarter of 2017 for her professional and personal contributions to the agency. She oversaw dollar threshold requirements by validating purchases worth $1.5 million, while saving $250,000 in excess purchases from when she started at the DLA Aviation, Richmond, Virginia, in June 2016. She also helped raise more than $100,000 for local charities during the Combined Federal Campaign this year by coordinating four fundraisers.

Richmond, Virginia — The Defense Logistics Agency selects Air Force Master Sgt. Gabriela Camarillo as its Senior Non-Commissioned Officer of the Quarter for the 1st quarter of 2017.

Defense Logistics Agency Aviation's employee working group committee and the Equal Employment Opportunity and Diversity Office presented a "Bystander Awareness Day" event to emphasize the problems that arise when employees experience bullying in the workplace. Attendees are shown here in one of the four breakout sessions titled: bullying; sexual harrassment, age discrimination or disparate treatment to discuss ways to help victims and prevention strategies.
