JBA partner brings fuel to the fight

JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Joint Base Andrews website — Senior Airman Jaramie York, 459th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron maintainer, is one of more than 1,300 citizen Airmen and civilian employees assigned to the 459th Air Refueling Wing, an Air Force Reserve mission partner of the 11th Wing. The 459th ARW’s central mission is to provide in-flight refueling capabilities to joint mission partners across the globe during exercises and critical missions through the deployment and maintenance of the KC-135R Stratotankers.

Active shooter exercise helps employees train, prepare for threats

DLA Distribution honored with Energy award

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Oklahoma City, Okla., was honored with the 2016 Federal Energy and Water Management Award in December for implementing a process to convert existing steam heating to a more efficient natural gas heating system in eight of its facilities.

Squadron serves as strong link in OIR supply chain

AL ASAD AIR BASE, Iraq — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the U.S. Air Force Central Command website — Constant loading and offloading of various items to and from aircraft requires careful coordination among the aerial porters of the 870th Air Expeditionary Advisory Squadron and they rely on each other’s expertise to efficiently perform their mission.

Richmond, Virginia — Theresa Mckinzie, customer support specialist at Defense Logistics Agency Aviation at Ogden, Utah, has 13 years with DLA and is dedicated to serving and getting the parts into the mechanics hands, quickly, and getting the weapon systems back to warfighter.

Frosty Bear run frost-free but fun

At a resiliency-building winter walk-run 5K on Jan. 25, DLA employees made a strong showing among a record turnout of participants.

Munitions specialist exemplifies creative thinking

HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Air Combat Command website — Innovation isn’t a foreign concept in the Air Force. However, the 49th Maintenance Squadron Munitions Flight is taking the concept to the next level. A 49th MXS munitions specialist took it upon himself to create an inventory accountability program to better track the thousands of dollars in ammo assets.

Ramona French, a supervisory supply specialist from DLA Distribution Future Operations wrote and performed a skit entitled “Dream Your Impossible Dream,” during the Jan. 19, Martin Luther King, Jr. Event at DLA Distribution Headquarters in New Cumberland, Pa.
