DLA Energy fuels Mars rocket launch

Carrying equipment destined for Mars, a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket fueled by DLA Energy blasted off from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida, July 30. The rocket carried the $2.7 billion NASA's Mars 2020 Perseverance rover in to space on a 300-million-mile voyage.

To better prepare for emergencies, members of the 509th Logistics Readiness Squadron, 509th Civil Engineer Squadron and the U.S. Army’s 1-135th Assault Helicopter Battalion participated in a DLA Energy fuel spill exercise, July 21-22.

DLA Energy celebrates 75th birthday

Seventy-five years ago, Defense Logistics Agency Energy, known then as the Army-Navy Petroleum Board, was founded to provide critical petroleum requirements during the war. World War II in Europe had ended while the war in the Pacific was still being fought. Oil, in all its forms, was the lifeblood of the Allied War effort.
