By Dawn Bonsell, Public Affairs Officer DLA Distribution

Navy Cmdr. Marcus M. Craig took command of Defense Logistics Agency Puget Sound, Washington, from outgoing Navy Cmdr. Timothy J. Calvo, during a change of command ceremony June 29. DLA Distribution Commander, Navy Rear Adm. Grafton D. Chase, officiated the ceremony.

Under Calvo’s leadership, DLA Distribution Puget Sound operated in three distinct geographical areas with 255 personnel providing support to aircraft carriers, submarines, cruisers, destroyers and combat ships in the Pacific Northwest. Additionally, he provided exceptional support to various shore organizations, including the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and the Trident Refit Facility. Calvo’s team successfully managed over 209,000 line items valued at more than $1.3 billion while also executing over 1.3 million transactions. In addition, Calvo was instrumental in spearheading the successful implementation of the Warehouse Management System at DLA Distribution Puget Sound, resulting in the distribution center being one step closer to meeting the Defense Department’s mandate for audit compliance.

During the ceremony, Chase presented Calvo with the Defense Meritorious Service Medal for superior leadership and impeccable logistical support of DLA Distribution Puget Sound.
