DEDSO ACTIVITIES FROM JANUARY
Quantifying the Cost of Bad Data in Department of Defense Activity Address Directory
Our Department of Defense Activity Address Directory (DoDAAD) Team met with U.S. Bank to request a report on accessorial charges for address corrections on attempted deliveries. Accessorial charges are expenses incident to issues, sales, and transfers of materiel to include packing, handling, port loading, forwarding, and unloading costs. The goal of this effort is to identify unnecessary costs created by bad data addressing in the DoDAAD and engage Services and Agencies to fix their data errors.
Audit Remediation Support
The Supply Team developed a proposed DLMS solution that reinforces existing policy on transaction requirements for materiel sent to DLA Distribution Centers. The lack of advance notice of shipment (DLMS 856P/R/S) transactions will cause materiel to be suspended and materiel without a pre-positioned materiel receipt (DLMS 527D) transaction may cause materiel to be receipted under the incorrect materiel owner. This change will be circulated under PDC 1492.
Marine Corps DLMS Training
We provided in-person DLMS XML and associated training courses to 20 functional managers at Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany on January 29, 2025. This training supported Marine Corps Logistics Command’s efforts to improve upon interoperable and expanded capabilities provided by the DLMS. Since November 2024, DEDSO has provided training to over 225 individuals across the Department of Defense.
