Material Sampling and Inspection Requests
 
Chromium Metal

One drum each from four (4) separate lots will be available for inspection and sampling. Quoters, or their designees may, at their expense, inspect the drums and take a grab sample, not to exceed two (2) pounds from each drum. Quoters shall provide a container for each required sample. The sample will be obtained in the presence of and under the direction of a DLA Strategic Materials representative. The Government does not warrant any grab samples to be representative of the lots sampled.

Ferrochromium

For low carbon ferrochromium. A Quoter may, at its own expense, visually inspect the material at the storage locations. No sampling of low carbon material will be permitted. All low carbon ferrochromium has been recently re-piled, sampled, and analyzed. This material is sold based on this analysis of record only. Copies of the analyses are available upon request.

For high carbon ferrochromium. A Quoter may, at its own expense, visually inspect the material at the storage locations. Quoters, or their designees, are encouraged to inspect material and take a grab sample, at their expense. Grab samples shall not exceed 50 pounds for high carbon ferrochromium material stored in piles. Quoters shall provide a container for each required sample. The sample will be obtained in the presence of and under the direction of a DLA Strategic Materials representative. The Government does not warrant any samples to be representative of the entire pile. The Contractor shall provide the Government with any analysis derived from the grab sample(s).

Ferromanganese

Quoters or their designees are encouraged to inspect the material and take a grab sample, at their own expense. Grab samples shall not exceed 50 pounds per pile. The sample will be obtained in the presence of and under the direction of a DLA Strategic Materials representative. The Government does not warrant any samples to be representative of the entire pile. The Contractor shall provide the Government with any analysis derived from the grab sample(s).

Manganese

Manganese ore is currently available for sampling on a limited basis. Material will be available for sampling once per quarter (Quarter 1: October-December; Quarter 2: January-March; Quarter 3: April-June; and Quarter 4:July-September).

All applicatoins to sample Manganese Ore from the Wenden, AZ storage location must be requested by the end of the first month of each aforementioned quarters to be considered/scheduled for that quarter. A representative from DLA Strategic Materials will contact the requestor and schedule a sampling visit to be held within the second month of each quarter and will take place on a Tuesday or Wednesday.

Offerors or their designees, at their expense, are encouraged to inspect material prior to placing an offer and to take a grab sample. Grab samples shall not exceed 50 pounds from each pile(s) being offered. Offerors shall provide a container for each required sample. The sample will be obtained in the presence of and under the direction of a DLA Strategic Materials representative. The Government does not warrant any samples to be representative of the entire pile.

Tungsten O&C

Quoters, or their designees at their expense, are encouraged to inspect material and take a grab sample, not to exceed two (2) pounds from each drum provided. One drum from each lot will be available for inspection and sampling. Quoters shall provide a container for each required sample. The sample will be obtained in the presence of and under the direction of a DLA Strategic Materials representative. The Government does not warrant any samples to be representative of the entire drum or lot.

Beryllium
Offerors or their designees may, at their own expense, visually inspect the packaging at the storage location.  No boxes will be opened and no sampling of the material will be permitted.  The Offeror, its agents and representatives shall comply at all times with the rules of the storage location.
