Jean M. Cox
Deputy Director, DLA Finance
Ms. Jean Cox is the Deputy Director of Finance (J8). In the dual capacity of the Agency’s Director of Resource Management, she is responsible for planning, programming, formulating, defending and executing the Agency’s financial and manpower resources. Located out of DLA Headquarters, Fort Belvoir, VA, she is the lead project manager for Audit Advancement for the Agency.
Ms. Cox has also served as the Comptroller, DLA Energy, a primary-level field activity of DLA at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, since January 2014. As Comptroller, she was responsible for implementation of policies and objectives related to numerous resource management functions encompassing financial policy, administration of budget resources, funds control, and automated financial and accounting systems. She provided financial and program support for the DLA Energy petroleum, aerospace, natural gas, electricity, and utility privatization programs.
Ms. Cox began her career as an accounting technician at the Bureau of Public Debt upon graduation from college. Transferring to DLA in 1985, she served in various positions in the DLA Energy Finance Directorate, progressing from technical expert to manager in both the accounting and budget disciplines. Selected as the Deputy Director DLA Finance Energy in September 2007, she held the position until December 2013.
Ms. Cox received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (concentration in Accounting) degree from Mary Washington College in 1985. She holds a Level III Department of Defense Financial Management certification and graduated from both Professional Military Comptrollers School and The Leadership for a Democratic Society program at the Federal Executive Institute.
