Maintenance fab flight awarded Squadron Innovation Funds for 3D printer

YOUNGSTOWN AIR RESERVE STATION, Ohio — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Youngstown Air Reserve Center website — The 910th Maintenance Group was recently awarded $72 thousand to advance its additive manufacturing capabilities through the purchase of an AON3D printer.

LRAFB Airman sparks 3D printed innovation for C-130 fleet

LITTLE ROCK AIR FORCE BASE, Ark. — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Little Rock Air Force Base website — The Air Force empowers its Airmen to be innovative in order to outpace and outmaneuver adversaries by solving problems they encounter every day — it’s what allows the Air Force to move faster, smarter and maintain its competitive edge.

The skilled engineers and technicians of the 533rd CMMXS in the Ogden Air Logistics Complex, design, prototype and manufacture thousands of critical components annually, that can’t be found anywhere else in the world. The parts are manufactured in order to bridge a gap in the regular supply system, when there’s no contract in place from an outside source.

573rd CMXS keeps aircraft parts in supply at Robins, worldwide to keep mission in air

ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Robins Air Force Base website — Mechanics, machinists, plastic workers and more make up the more than 200-member team responsible for supporting weapon systems and manufacturing of parts on the F-15, C-5, C-17 and C-130 aircraft.

Airmen with the 109th Airlift Wing's Logistical Readiness Squadron, New York National Guard, designed and built new crates to carry 25-foot-long skis the wing's LC-130s use to land on snow and ice in the Arctic and Antarctic, to replace older versions that were no longer serviceable. NY Air Guard customizes shipping boxes for 25-foot-long skis

STRATTON AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Scotia, N.Y. — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the National Guard website — Good skis are expensive. So it’s always a good idea to protect them when they’re shipped. It’s an even better idea to protect them when the skis are 25 feet long, weigh 3,000 pounds, and are used to land 75,800-pound LC-130 cargo airplanes on ice and snow.
