Functional community reps meet to share ideas, successes

Fort Belvoir, Virginia — Representatives of most of Defense Logistics Agency’s 16 functional communities met in person and via video teleconferencing and telephone with DLA Human Resources advisors in a biannual meeting at the McNamara Headquarters Complex April 18.

DLA Troop Support Clothing and Textiles’ culture improvement team conducted a War Games exercise to enhance communication throughout the supply chain, as a result of employees identifying streamlined communication as an area for improvement in previous culture climate survey results. The 2018 DLA culture climate survey is open until April 17. Employees are encouraged to provide insight on their experiences at DLA by completing the survey.

C&T aims to improve communication through ‘War Games’ exercise

PHILADELPHIA — DLA Troop Support Clothing and Textiles’ culture improvement team conducted a War Games exercise to enhance communication throughout the supply chain. The exercise was a result of employees identifying streamlined communication as an area for improvement in previous culture climate survey results. The 2018 DLA culture climate survey is open until April 17.

DLA director returns to DSCR for DLA Aviation overview

Richmond, Va. — Defense Logistics Agency Director Army Lt. Gen. Darrell Williams returned to Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, July 31 to receive a DLA Aviation overview.

During a windshield tour of the installation, Williams stops to view DLA Distribution’s expeditionary capability, which deploys for contingency operations, humanitarian missions and other military exercises via movable structures and communications equipment operated by a team trained to perform storage and distribution in any environment.

DLA director visits DLA Distribution headquarters

DLA Director Army Lt. Gen. Darrell K. Williams visited DLA Distribution headquarters in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, July 7 for an orientation meeting with senior leaders and a tour of the DLA Distribution Susquehanna facility.

Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, was recognized by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration as a Star Worksite in safety under OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program Dec. 12, 2016 in a ceremony in the Frank Lotts Conference Center on the installation. The OSHA VPP recognizes employers and workers in federal agencies and in private industry who have implemented effective safety and health management systems and maintain injury and illness rates below national Bureau of Labor Statistics averages for the respective industries.

Richmond, Virginia — Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, home of Defense Logistics Agency Aviation, DLA Installation Support at Richmond and many other DLA organizations has received star status in safety by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

DLA Director shares culture survey results, progress toward strategic plan goals

FORT BELVOIR, Virginia — Mission and involvement were the most improved areas of the Defense Logistics Agency’s 2016 Culture Survey, DLA Director Air Force Lt. Gen. Andy Busch said during a town hall focusing on agency goals in areas such as people and culture at the McNamara Headquarters Complex July 27.

Children of McNamara Headquarters Complex employees took a break from school to “shadow” their parents during “Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day” April 28. HQC Morale, Welfare and Recreation sponsored the event.
