DLA Aviation hosts Air Force noncommissioned officers’ promotion ceremony

RICHMOND, Va. — The Defense Logistics Agency Aviation recognized four Air Force noncommissioned officers assigned to several divisions throughout the command, during an Air Force promotion ceremony held in the Frank B. Lotts Conference Center on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, May 7.

Airmen show unit cohesion by wearing new DLA Aviation unit patch

Richmond, Va. — On April 1, the Air Force switched its airmen’s everyday uniform from airman battle uniforms to operational camouflage pattern uniforms. As a sign of unity, airmen assigned to Defense Logistics Agency Aviation designed a DLA Aviation unit patch that they will begin wearing on their new OCPs in mid-May.

Vaccine clinic draws over 100 DSCR employees

Richmond, Va. — Volunteers from the Virginia Army National Guard at Fort Pickett near Blackstone, Virginia, Defense Logistics Agency Installation Management Richmond and DLA Aviation’s Customer Operations Directorate managed a pop-up vaccine clinic at Defense Supply Center Richmond April 27. More than 100 DLA employees were given the first of two COVID-19 vaccine injections.

DLA increases map production cycle, ensures safety in aircraft navigation

Richmond, Va. — Maps guide us where we need to go, but they are only as current as their last update. For many years, Defense Logistics Agency Aviation and DLA Distribution distributed updated map products to customers on a 168-day production cycle. That changed in February when the Federal Aviation Administration determined that timeline was too long and could lead to safety issues in aeronautical navigation.

After a decade in the “Boneyard,” Wise Guy back in action

RICHMOND, VA — On May 19, 2016, an Air Force B-52 Bomber, with seven crew members onboard, crashed at Anderson Air Force Base on Guam, a U.S. territory in the Pacific close to 4,000 miles west of Hawaii. All survived the fiery crash that reduced the Air Force’s B-52 fleet to 75, one less than the congressionally mandated 76.

DLA Aviation awards engineering services order to improve B-1 bomber radar support
