DLA Distribution Yokosuka aids USS Fitzgerald after tragedy strikes

YOKOSUKA, Japan — DLA Distribution Yokosuka, Japan, has been working to move critical supplies to support the USS Fitzgerald after a deadly crash that left seven sailors dead and major damage to the destroyer.

DLA Distribution Norfolk, Virginia, commander Navy Supply Corps Capt. Andrew Matthews and former DLA Distribution commander Navy Capt. Harry Thetford met with customers and several junior naval officers during a trip to Naval Submarine Base New London, Connecticut.

Distribution Norfolk leadership visits SUBASE New London

NEW LONDON, Connecticut — Prior to taking command earlier this month, DLA Distribution Norfolk, Virginia, commander Navy Supply Corps Capt. Andrew Matthews stopped by Naval Submarine Base New London, Connecticut, to meet with on-site customers as well as to mentor several young naval officers.

Before CPI: Prior to the CPI event it was nearly impossible to determine if the top of a box was within 18 inches of the sprinkler head.

Continuous Process Improvement and Safety at DLA Distribution Korea

CAMP CARROLL, Korea — Combining Quality Assurance inspections with Continuous Process Improvement enables DLA Distribution Korea to transform how business is conducted on a day-to-day basis. These programs allow for improvement of operations while staying true to the requirements of Audit Readiness and meeting the needs of the warfigher and material owners.

Engineers improve training center in Romania with DLA-provided materials

PHILADELPHIA — The MRO team at DLA Troop Support Europe and Africa provided stones, lumber, concrete and other materials used to improve the Joint National Training Center in Romania for Resolute Castle 2017, an exercise to strengthen NATO forces’ capability to train and respond to threats within the region.

New DLA command creates joint ops center to boost warfighter support

A new joint operations team is now active at the newly created Defense Logistics Agency CENTCOM & SOCOM headquarters at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida.

Former DLA Troop Support Commander Army Brig. Gen. Charles Hamilton presents contracting officer Maliza Maldonado a DLA Superior Civilian Service Award and recognizes her as the DLA Troop Support 2016 Employee of the Year during a ceremony June 6 in Philadelphia. The awards cited Maldonado's handling of an 18-month, $43M bridge contract for the industrial hardware needed to support three air logistics complexes at Ogden, Utah; Oklahoma City; and Warner Robins, Georgia.

2016 Employee of the Year sustains critical Air Force weapons systems

PHILADELPHIA — A contracting officer with the Industrial Hardware supply chain was named 2016 DLA Troop Support Employee of the Year and received the DLA Superior Civilian Service Award June 6 for her contributions to acquiring hardware for critical systems across the Air Force.

Army Col. Mark Simerly, DLA Troop Support commander, discussed trust, discipline and commitment during a town hall event for employees July 18. Simerly took command of the organization July 11.

New commander emphasizes trust, discipline, commitment in first town hall

PHILADELPHIA — Army Col. Mark Simerly discussed the importance of trust, discipline and commitment during his first town hall as commander of DLA Troop Support.

Several Police Presence in a Box kits were transferred to Iraqi security forces July 3. The kits are the first of 100 that DLA Troop Support procured for Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve and will be transferred to ISF this summer. The kits include: a tent with a working space, furniture, lighting, water tanks, laptops, phones, GPS, weapons storage and checkpoint equipment.

DLA-procured police-presence kits delivered to Iraqi security forces

PHILADELPHIA — On the verge of victory in Mosul, Iraqi security forces received police equipment that they’ll use to protect their citizens. The first Police Presence in a Box kits were transferred to Iraqi security forces July 3 during a ceremony in Baghdad.

DLA Aviation team visits Army National Guard in Mississippi

Richmond, Va. — Readiness Cell team members from the Army Customer Facing Division, Defense Logistics Agency Aviation planned for two months with the 1108th Theater Aviation Sustainment Maintenance Group Mississippi Army National Guard in Gulfport, Mississippi to arrange an outreach site visit June 26-27.
