DLA Aviation Engineering Directorate wins prestigious awards

RICHMOND, VA — Defense Logistics Agency Aviation Engineering Directorate’s Engineering and Technology Division was recently recognized by the Department of Defense for its outstanding contributions to this nation’s warfighters through cost savings or avoidances, quality improvements and efficiencies.

Norfolk team ships jet components for Marine Corps

NORFOLK, Virginia — Over the years, the Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Norfolk, Va., Traffic Management team has shipped some unusual items to places around the world. Recently, the team shipped large components of a United States Marine Corps AV-8B Harrier jet for repair.

DLA’s Retail Operations Division, in coordination with DLA Land and Maritime, brought total focus to the retail side of DLA's warfighter support at the second Semi-Annual Total Retail Sustainment Review, May 24-25 at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine.

DLA Aviation helps sustain America’s first long-range bomber for another 30 plus years

RICHMOND, VA — If you’ve ever been fortunate enough to see an Air Force B-52 bomber up close on the ground or in the air, you fully understand its sheer magnitude. Built by Boeing, the B-52 Stratofortress is more than 40 feet high, has a wingspan of 185 feet, and is 160 feet long. To put that into perspective, that’s 25 feet wider and a little less than half the length of a regulation football field.

DLA JRF holds annual leadership meeting, reviews goals and objectives

During the DLA Joint Reserve Force's June Battle Assembly, about 75 JRF members from various locations gathered at the McNamara Headquarters Complex for the annual Combined Drill Weekend, June 10-12.

After the Navy took ownership of the USS Zumwalt (DDG 1000), the supply department works to feed sailors aboard the destroyer May 20 in Bath, Maine. The Zumwalt’s inaugural dinner included lobster tail, crab and filet mignon.

Subsistence delivers lobster tails for inaugural dinner aboard USS Zumwalt

PHILADELPHIA — The inaugural dinner aboard the Navy’s newest guided-missile destroyer included 160 pounds of lobster tails that were delivered just in time, thanks to the DLA Troop Support Subsistence team.

Dix recognized Eartha Beaty, a 90-year-old Montford Point Marine, one of the first African Americans to serve in the United States Marine Corps, with a Certificate of Appreciation from the Montford Point Marine Association.

Distribution commander delivers keynote address at Midland Cemetery Memorial Service

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — DLA Distribution commander Army Brig. Gen. Richard Dix delivered the keynote address at the Friends of Midland Cemetery annual memorial service Saturday, May 28, 2016.

TF Steel Knight keeps essential supplies moving for Exercise Anakonda

DRAWSKO-POMORSKIE TRAINING AREA, Poland — Soldiers from 39th Transportation Battalion arrived at Drawsko-Pomorskie training area May 10 to execute onward movement for exercise Anakonda 2016 and worked to accomplish that logistics mission during subsequent weeks.
