Food safety officer gets inside look at future military rations

Philadelphia — A Subsistence chief food safety officer got an inside look into soldiers evaluating food rations during field trials at Fort Carson, Colorado. The field trials are conducted annually by the U.S. Army Natick Soldier Research Development and Engineering Center.

Kenneth E. Hodge, accountable officer for DLA Distribution Richmond, Va., mapping division, will retire with 42 years of service to the federal government on July 31.

Canadian officer departs agency with American allegiance in her heart

A Canadian Army major will soon complete her tour as the first officer from her nation to serve at DLA as part of a U.S./Canadian military exchange program.

Commander holds Town Hall in Richmond

RICHMOND, VA — Defense Logistics Agency Aviation Commander Air Force Brig. Gen. Allan Day addressed a packed house at the Frank B. Lotts Conference Center during his town hall July 15 on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia.

The depot as it looked from 1953 until the mid-1980’s. The row of four warehouses in the top right were known as the “Golden Mile” and built at the end of the Korean War.

Norfolk team ships jet components for Marine Corps

NORFOLK, Virginia — Over the years, the Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Norfolk, Va., Traffic Management team has shipped some unusual items to places around the world. Recently, the team shipped large components of a United States Marine Corps AV-8B Harrier jet for repair.

DLA Aviation helps sustain America’s first long-range bomber for another 30 plus years

RICHMOND, VA — If you’ve ever been fortunate enough to see an Air Force B-52 bomber up close on the ground or in the air, you fully understand its sheer magnitude. Built by Boeing, the B-52 Stratofortress is more than 40 feet high, has a wingspan of 185 feet, and is 160 feet long. To put that into perspective, that’s 25 feet wider and a little less than half the length of a regulation football field.
