DLA celebrates the Air Force’s 71st birthday!

Airmen and Defense Logistics Agency Aviation employees celebrated the Air Force’s 71st birthday Sept. 18, with a ceremony at Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia. Air Force Commander Col. Terrence Kilgore, 345th Training Squadron, Fort Lee, Virginia, was the guest speaker. In his speech, he highlighted the Air Force’s 71st birthday theme: “American Airman … Wingman, Leader, Warrior.” He called the theme befitting for a service that encompasses all three character traits.

DLA volunteer efforts to account for real property in full swing

A major volunteer effort has been underway to assess and account for as many as 18,000 real property assets across 550 sites, and Defense Logistics Agency Aviation personnel are playing a crucial role in the process. The first site visits began in May 2018 and are expected to end Sept. 15. The remaining months of 2018 will be used by DLA headquarters to validate the results.

Growing up a deaf woman in a hearing society is not without its challenges, but Patricia “Trix” Bruce has risen to those challenges and overcome them with aplomb. She has since made it her mission to help educate the hearing community and deaf interpreters about the most productive and rewarding ways to communicate and engage with deaf people.

DLA Aviation hosts future agents of change for Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day

From youngsters and tweens to teens, over 150 sons and daughters of Defense Logistics Agency employees from Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia swarmed the Frank B. Lotts Conference Center April 26 to participate in “Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day.” Hosted by the DLA Aviation Customer Operations Directorate and Office of Equal Employment Opportunity and Diversity, the event this year ran under the theme “Service Force: Agents of Positive Change.”
