Army director of Enterprise Support visits DLA Distribution

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. — Robert Thurston, director, Enterprise Support, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, Headquarters, Department of the Army, visited Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Headquarters in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, and toured the facilities at DLA Distribution Susquehanna, Pennsylvania, Aug. 14. During his visit, Thurston engaged with DLA Distribution leadership and staff, discussing topics including the Warehouse Execution System, Warehouse Management System implementation, and warehouse modernization and utilization. The overall goal of the visit focused on knowledge sharing relating to topics such as supply forecasting, enterprise resource planning modernization and prepositioned stock.

DLA Distribution exercises expeditionary capabilities

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. — More than 35 Defense Logistics Agency Joint Force reservists from across the United States joined the DLA Distribution Expeditionary team to train on multiple aspects of the deployable distribution center in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, June 20-July 3. The two-week DLA Expeditionary Academy is designed to train DLA reservists to conduct distribution activities during a deployment in response to natural disaster recovery as a part of the DLA Distribution Expeditionary team or in providing logistical and operational support during contingency operations. This expeditionary academy was the second one held this year, the first taking place at DLA Distribution, San Joaquin, California, April 2024.

Defense Distribution Center, Susquehanna’s, SummerFest celebrates employees, families

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. — Defense Distribution Center, Susquehanna, Pennsylvania, and Defense Logistics Agency Installation Management at Susquehanna’s, Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation joined forces to recognize their military and civilian workforce and their families during the annual SummerFest and Organization Day in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, Aug. 7.

DLA Distribution hosts safety experts to discuss best practices

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. — Defense Logistics Agency Distribution played host to a meeting of the Susquehanna Valley Field Federal Safety Council at DLA Distribution Headquarters in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, July 25. The council, hosted by Zachariah Shaner, safety and occupational health manager, DLA Distribution, consists of local federal employees and safety and health professionals who collaborate to improve safety and health in the federal government.

DLA Acquisition leaders recognize acquisition achievements

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. — Top Defense Logistics Agency Acquisition leadership met with chiefs of contracting offices, or CCOs, and recognized several DLA employees during a visit to DLA Distribution headquarters in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, July 16-17. Matthew Beebe, director of acquisition, DLA, joined George Atwood, deputy director of acquisition, DLA, to discuss acquisition workforce and compliance assessments, small business updates, strategic contracts, and industry engagements and recognize 15 acquisition employees from across the DLA enterprise.

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. — Defense Logistics Agency Distribution employees from the finance directorate were recognized for their service to the federal government during an award ceremony held at DLA Distribution headquarters in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, July 17.

New leadership at the helm in San Diego

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. — Navy Capt. Phoebe Tamayo took command during a ceremony held at Defense Logistics Agency Distribution San Diego, California, as all present bid fair winds and following seas to Navy Capt. Cielo Almanza, who relinquished command and retired after 27 years of service.

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. — Radha Iyengar Plumb, deputy undersecretary of defense for acquisition and sustainment visited Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Aug. 18, along with Leigh Method, deputy assistant secretary of defense for logistics and Brad Bunn, vice director of DLA.
