DLA Distribution commander gets detailed look at Anniston operations

Rear Adm. Michael York, commander, Defense Logistics Agency Distribution, learned more about operations and support to the Army and warfighter during a visit to DLA Distribution Anniston, Alabama, located at Anniston Army Depot, July 10-11. York, who presided over a change of command ceremony July 10 where Army Lt. Col. Toby Williford relinquished command to Army Lt. Col. Brandon Ebel, made his first visit to the site since assuming command of DLA Distribution in May.

Top Defense Logistics Agency Acquisition leadership met with chiefs of contracting offices, or CCOs, and recognized several DLA employees during a visit to DLA Distribution headquarters in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, July 16-17. Matthew Beebe, director of acquisition, DLA, joined George Atwood, deputy director of acquisition, DLA, to discuss acquisition workforce and compliance assessments, small business updates, strategic contracts, and industry engagements and recognize 15 acquisition employees from across the DLA enterprise.

New commander takes charge of DLA Aviation, Defense Supply Center Richmond

In a whirlwind of events on the morning of July 2, the Defense Logistics Agency Aviation team celebrated a promotion, a change of command and a retirement on Defense Supply Center Richmond. DLA Director Army Lt. Gen. Mark T. Simerly presided over a ceremony that saw Air Force Brig. Gen. Chad R. Ellsworth assume command from Air Force Brig. Gen. Sean K. Tyler, who retired shortly after handing over the reins. Earlier that morning, Air Force Lt. Gen. Linda S. Hurry, Air Force Materiel Command deputy commander, promoted Ellsworth during a small ceremony in the DLA Aviation headquarters building.

New leader takes charge of DLA activity at Warner Robins

The team from Defense Logistics Agency Aviation at Warner Robins welcomed their new leader during a change of command ceremony June 28 at the Museum of Aviation here on base. Air Force Brig. Gen. Sean Tyler, DLA Aviation commander, officiated the transfer of authority to Air Force Col. Craig Giles from Air Force Col. Brian Mayer, who celebrated his retirement during an immediately following ceremony.

Top DLA acquisition leaders meet in Richmond for CCO summit

Top acquisition leaders across the Defense Logistics Agency gathered June 25-26 on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, for a Chief of Contracting Office Activities summit. The two-day summit provided additional training and the latest updates to contracting requirements. It was targeted toward the senior-level directors, deputy directors and chiefs of various contracting offices across the agency’s major subordinate commands and strategy and business services.

Navy Capt. Phoebe Tamayo took command during a ceremony held at Defense Logistics Agency Distribution San Diego, California, as all present bid fair winds and following seas to Navy Capt. Cielo Almanza, who relinquished command and retired after 27 years of service.
