Aviation goes nuclear in support of warfighter readiness

RICHMOND, Va. — For the first time, Defense Logistics Agency Aviation hosted the agency’s Nuclear Enterprise Orientation Course (NEOC) at Defense Supply Center Richmond Aug. 27-28, 2024. The course marked a significant new step in DLA Aviation’s mission to support the warfighter by providing personnel with essential knowledge about nuclear operations.

DLA enterprise improvement project supports process redesign

NEW CUMBERLAND — Subject matter experts from across the Defense Logistics Agency enterprise gathered for a Rejected Disposal Workshop at DLA Distribution Headquarters in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, July 29 – Aug. 1. The workshop is part of a DLA improvement project that focuses on activities for two of the project phases. Moving forward, the team will begin identifying related tasks for each of their recommendations developed during the workshop and obtain the approval of the project champion.

Army director of Enterprise Support visits DLA Distribution

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. — Robert Thurston, director, Enterprise Support, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, Headquarters, Department of the Army, visited Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Headquarters in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, and toured the facilities at DLA Distribution Susquehanna, Pennsylvania, Aug. 14. During his visit, Thurston engaged with DLA Distribution leadership and staff, discussing topics including the Warehouse Execution System, Warehouse Management System implementation, and warehouse modernization and utilization. The overall goal of the visit focused on knowledge sharing relating to topics such as supply forecasting, enterprise resource planning modernization and prepositioned stock.

Reventlow, commanding general, Marine Corps Logistics Command, and staff visited Defense Logistics Agency Distribution July 31 for a briefing on the current state of operations and discussion on how DLA Distribution can support the mission of the Marine Corps in a contested logistics environment.

DLA Aviation seeks industry help to overcome contested logistics challenges

MIDWEST CITY, Okla. — Defense Department members, industry partners and Oklahoma government officials gathered here Aug. 5-8 at the Reed Conference Center, near Tinker Air Force Base, for the 18th annual “Tinker and the Primes” conference. Air Force Brig. Gen. Chad Ellsworth, DLA Aviation commander, and Cathy Contreras, DLA Aviation senior acquisition executive, were featured speakers at the annual event, which offered prime and secondary contractors, government agencies, academic institutions and small businesses a chance to discuss the conference’s theme: “Forging Readiness and Accelerating Innovation for Great Power Competition.”

DLA Distribution Corpus Christi continually refines hurricane preparation

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. — With hurricane season in full swing, personnel at Defense Logistics Agency Distribution, Corpus Christi, Texas, are ensuring the proper plans are in place to protect their workforce, operations and equipment. Before the hurricane season, command leadership, in collaboration with security and safety teams, organized a town hall meeting with employees to discuss preparations for the site, as well as guidance on how they can prepare their homes and families.

DLA Distribution exercises expeditionary capabilities

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. — More than 35 Defense Logistics Agency Joint Force reservists from across the United States joined the DLA Distribution Expeditionary team to train on multiple aspects of the deployable distribution center in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, June 20-July 3. The two-week DLA Expeditionary Academy is designed to train DLA reservists to conduct distribution activities during a deployment in response to natural disaster recovery as a part of the DLA Distribution Expeditionary team or in providing logistical and operational support during contingency operations. This expeditionary academy was the second one held this year, the first taking place at DLA Distribution, San Joaquin, California, April 2024.
