DLA Distribution Safe and Sound Week

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. — DLA Distribution’s Safety Team held a Safe and Sound Week August 13–17 as part of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s annual campaign. Safe and Sound Week allows safety experts to show and explain the opportunities available to our employees to help keep them safe, said Rupel Perkins, DLA Distribution Safety Team.

DLA volunteer efforts to account for real property in full swing

Richmond, Va. — A major volunteer effort has been underway to assess and account for as many as 18,000 real property assets across 550 sites, and Defense Logistics Agency Aviation personnel are playing a crucial role in the process. The first site visits began in May 2018 and are expected to end Sept. 15. The remaining months of 2018 will be used by DLA headquarters to validate the results.

Army Reserve team provides essential support to DLA Distribution Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania

TOBYHANNA, Pa. — The Army Reserve 490th Quartermaster Company has augmented DLA Distribution Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania since June 2017. The unit, on special assignment to DDTP, and led by Master Sgt. Mark Swarr, and Sgt. 1st Class Nicholas Marou, DLA Distribution J9, facilitated the growth and warfighter readiness of six subordinate soldiers.

Distribution Sasebo sailors volunteer time to local orphanage

SASEBO, Japan — DLA Distribution Yokosuka, Japan at Sasebo sailors, Navy Logistics Specialist 1st Class Mark Alvaro, Logistics Specialist 2nd Class Enrito Jambalos and Logistics Specialist Seaman Recruit Jonathan Schroeder along with other USO Sasebo volunteers spent their Saturday morning handing out gifts and spending quality play time with Japanese children living at a local orphanage on July 14.

YOKOSUKA, Japan — On June 28, 2018, DLA Distribution Yokosuka, Japan held retirement ceremonies for five of eight Master Labor Contract employees, honoring their significant contribution in an exceptional amount of time. With over 250 years of combined experience, DDYJ will feel the loss of these employee’s work ethic and efforts.
