A tribute to the Warfighters who are “fueling the line” over the holidays

A tribute poem to Warfighters who "fuel the line” was written by Air Force Col. Loren M. Reno on Nov. 26, 1997 when he was assigned to Split, Croatia, as part of Operation Joint Endeavor. He returned to DLA as a major general and served as the Vice Director from Oct. 2005 to May 2007. Reno was inducted into the DLA Hall of Fame in August 2014 at the McNamara Headquarters Complex on Fort Belvoir, Virginia.

16th annual international DLA Energy Europe and Africa Fuel Exchange Agreements Forum

Representatives from 15 countries met in person for the first time in two years to talk fuel infrastructure, future operations and increased partnership opportunities during the 16th annual DLA Fuel Exchange Agreements Forum in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, Nov. 16-18.

A first-of-its-kind memorandum of understanding with a historically black college and university was signed virtually between DLA Energy and Benedict College at the McNamara Headquarters Complex, Fort Belvoir, Virginia, Nov. 15.

Honoring Filipino-Americans in uniform both past and present, DLA Energy Commander Air Force Brig. Gen. Jimmy Canlas was recognized at a Veterans Day event at the Philippine Consulate in New York City, Nov. 11.

A fuel handler’s storied 42-year career

Chuck Allyson’s storied career in fuel has carried him from Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland; through Fort Lee and Fort Belvoir in Virginia; to Germany, South Korea, and Alaska. His final duty assignment landed him traveling throughout the northeast region of New England. After 21 years in the Army and another 21 years working as a civilian DLA fuel quality assurance representative, it’s time to move on.

Recognized for their safety, professionalism and reliability in the petroleum field, Mike Holgate, Doug Collins, and Rick Vanschoor were inducted into the “Order of the SPR” at the National Petroleum Management Association PETRO 21 Conference in Alexandria, Virginia, Nov. 3.

From across the globe, more than 615 DLA Energy employees participated in a virtual All Hands held from the Fort Belvoir McNamara Headquarters Complex auditorium Nov. 2. The workforce was updated on the DLA Energy 2021 Culture Action Plan, recent employee awards and recognition, and the COVID-19 vaccination documentation system.

Texas legislature recognizes DLA Energy employee

Recognizing his “remarkable dedication and skill,” the State of Texas House of Representatives adopted Resolution No. 140 to “commend Staff Sergeant Calvin Williams for his service during Hurricane Ida and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success in his important work.” During a Nov. 2 ceremony in Sugar Land, Texas, District 26 State Representative Jacey Jetton personally presented Williams the resolution, thanking him for his service and support.
