Army Col. Fredric E. Johnson: the consummate Army petroleum professional

FORT BELVOIR, Virginia — Retired Army Col. Fredric Johnson, who served as a U.S. Army Quartermaster officer and petroleum specialist for more than three decades, passed away Aug. 8. His final assignment before retirement in 1972 was as acting commander of the Defense Fuel Supply Center, Cameron Station, Virginia, the predecessor of Defense Logistics Agency Energy.

Led by Defense Logistics Agency Pacific Korea, DLA Distribution and other DLA organizations in the pacific theater provided simulated sustainment and logistics services to United States and Republic of Korea forces within the Korean Theater of Operations in support of Ulchi Freedom Guardian from Aug. 17 to 29, 2015.

Defense Logistics Agency supports Ulchi Freedom Guardian 2015

CAMP CARROLL, Korea — Led by Defense Logistics Agency Pacific Korea, DLA Distribution and other DLA organizations in the pacific theater provided simulated sustainment and logistics services to United States and Republic of Korea forces within the Korean Theater of Operations in support of Ulchi Freedom Guardian from Aug. 17 to 29, 2015. UFG is a computer-based command post exercise that triggers ROK-US Forces to respond to destabilizing events and work through challenges in mission command in defense of the ROK.

Air Force Master Sgts. Keith Grady and David Janes are two of only four Air Force Logistics Education Advancement Program noncommissioned officers in their Air Force career field. The LEAP is a career broadening education program designed to provide selected NCOs with on-the-job experience and training in special fuels logistics areas.

Energy’s Lorton division creates baby boom

LORTON, Virginia — Whether they know or not, 11 very dependent little people are the makings of Defense Logistics Agency Energy Utility Services’ future workforce. Since September 2014, there have been 11 babies, and counting; the first baby was born in September and the last two were born in August.

DLA Energy supports Ulchi Freedom Guardian exercise

CAMP WALKER, South Korea — The Defense Logistics Agency Energy supported Ulchi Freedom Guardian 2015 before and during the cooperative South Korean exercise through training and fuel coordination.

Mr. James McClaugherty, DLA Land and Maritime deputy commander, visited the Pearl Harbor Naval shipyard and DLA-Pacific Aug. 10 on his first stop of an international trip through the Pacific region.

DLA Distribution Yokosuka prepares to manage Japan’s Transportation Protective Service program

YOKOSUKA, Japan — As part of an effort to increase support to the warfighter, Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Yokosuka, Japan, is preparing to manage Japan’s Transportation Protective Service program. This effort gives DLA responsibility for freight within mainland Japan that requires TPS, including classified, sensitive, and hazardous material.
