DLA Distribution Yokosuka prepares to manage Japan’s Transportation Protective Service program

YOKOSUKA, Japan — As part of an effort to increase support to the warfighter, Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Yokosuka, Japan, is preparing to manage Japan’s Transportation Protective Service program. This effort gives DLA responsibility for freight within mainland Japan that requires TPS, including classified, sensitive, and hazardous material.

The Defense Logistics Agency Energy’s pilot program to provide academic researchers with helium for use in their federally funded research resulted in savings of up to 27 percent for several universities.

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS — The Defense Logistics Agency Energy’s pilot program to provide academic researchers with helium for use in their federally funded research resulted in savings of up to 27 percent for several universities.

DLA Energy empowers service member through Operation Warfighter Program

FORT BELVOIR, Virginia — Whether armed in her Kevlar vest and responsible for convoy supplies in Kuwait or providing warfighter support from her desk at Defense Logistics Agency Energy, Army Sgt. Palestine Fox knows how to take her military experience and apply it to any job.

Six-month rotation, DLA Energy’s pipeline to success

FORT BELVOIR, Virginia — Gladys White is the first DLA Energy employee to kick start the Defense Logistics Agency Energy’s Rotation Program. For the next six months she is setting aside her administrative role in DLA Energy Direct Delivery Fuels and learning about becoming a project management analyst for the Defense Fuel Support Point Management’s Sustainment, Restoration and Modernization division.

DLA Energy Middle East Air Force major retires after 24-year career

NAVAL SUPPORT ACTIVITY BAHRAIN, Bahrain — The Defense Logistics Agency Energy Middle East Supplier Operations commander retired after 24 years in the United States Air Force during a ceremony at Naval Support Activity Bahrain Aug. 7.

Historical DLA Energy photos added to DLA archives

FORT BELVOIR, Virginia — Defense Logistics Agency historians received more than 6,000 historic photographs, negatives and 10 video tapes to add to the DLA history program during renovations to the DLA Energy Kunkel Conference Room.

A contract carrier is being fueled at the Fort Wainwright aviation fuel facility after delivering 120 fire fighters from North Carolina and Virginia to help fight fires in interior Alaska. The Fort Wainwright aviation fuel facility is one of nine different bases throughout Alaska that DLA Energy Pacific supplies fuel to on a monthly basis.

Jet fuel demand soars for Alaska firefighting operations

FORT WAINWRIGHT, Alaska — A record-breaking fire season in Alaska is increasing demands for cold weather jet fuel supplied by Defense Logistics Agency Energy Pacific at Alaska to support firefighting operations.

An F-35B Lightning II, with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 121 “Green Knights,” refuels on the flight line aboard Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Arizona, Aug. 18. The Lightning II is scheduled to show off its capabilities during demonstrations at the 2014 Miramar Air Show, Oct. 3-5.

DLA Energy SRM program hits velocity

FORT BELVOIR, Virginia — A continuous process improvement event adopted by Sustainment, Restoration and Modernization division at the Defense Logistics Agency Energy is shortening the execution lead time for repairing fuel facilities.

The New Horizon’s spacecraft captures an image of Pluto July 13. The mission is supported by the Defense Logistics Agency Energy-procured propellant hydrazine.

DLA Energy supports New Horizons spacecraft’s Pluto mission

San Antonio, Texas — The Defense Logistics Agency Energy’s support now extends to the edge of the solar system as NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft reaches Pluto. Propellants used along the spacecraft’s journey, as well as the fuel and other products used in the Atlas V rocket that launched New Horizons were all procured, stored and transported by DLA Energy.
