Second DLA ball promotes pomp, purpose, people

Springfield, Virginia — DLA Director Army Lt. Gen. Darrell Williams, who often uses the phrase "the secret sauce of warfighter support" as a description of DLA’s people, invited friends, family members, former DLA employees and dignitaries to enjoy an evening of entertainment, history, fanfare and military traditions during the second annual DLA Ball, Nov. 1. Special guests included guest speaker, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Sustainment Robert McMahon and his wife, Hope, along with Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment Ellen Lord, and her husband, Geoff.

Former retail leader teaches lessons in supply chain management

Fort Belvoir, Virginia — During an Oct. 30 professional-development session on supply-chain management at the McNamara Headquarters Complex, Defense Logistics Agency Director Army Lt. Gen. Darrell Williams hosted Chris Sultemeier, former president and CEO of Walmart Transportation and later, executive vice president of logistics for Walmart Stores. Sultemeier relayed stories and advice from his 30-year career spanning military service and the private sector to leaders of DLA headquarters organizations and major subordinate commands.

Army Col. inducted into Hall of Fame

Fort Belvoir, Virginia — Surrounded by colleagues, family and friends, retired Army Col. Robert Jarvis was inducted into the third annual Defense Logistics Agency Energy Hall of Fame during a ceremony on Oct. 23 for his legacy, which defined the history of DLA Energy and set the standard for today’s warfighter energy solutions.

FORT BELVOIR, Virginia — Four former employees were inducted in the third annual Defense Logistics Agency Energy Hall of Fame in a ceremony at the McNamara Headquarters Complex, Fort Belvoir, Virginia, Oct. 23.

Donald Matre, motor vehicle operator for the Installation Management Division of DLA Installation Operations Richmond, Virginia, says the elk are extremely curious. In seasons past, Bellwood bulls have tangled their antlers in barbed wire and in one case gone toe-to-toe with a parked tractor; the tractor lost.
