Pride program offers insight on visibility, allyship within the Land and Maritime LGBTQ community

The 2022 Land and Maritime LGBTQ Pride Month program promoted allyship and inclusion for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender, and queer people in the federal workforce at Defense Supply Center Columbus June 15 at the Operations Center Auditorium. The program was offered in person and was livestreamed for associates who could not attend.

Cmdr. John Mullen takes command as father and former Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff watches

“I remember it was his change of command day for the USS Yorktown, CG 48, It was 1991 or 1992, I was 12 or 13, and he got up there and had just assumed command. He was giving his opening speech to the crew and made a comment, ‘I am going to make the USS Yorktown better when I leave than when I took over.’” Cmdr. John S. Mullen, commanding officer of Navy Talent Acquisition Group (NTAG) Ohio River Valley (ORV), said remembering words his father, Former Chairman, Joint Chief of Staff (JCS) and Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) Adm. (ret.) Michael Mullen said over 30 years ago.

DSCC Child Development Center garden teaches children about science and cooperation

The sun was shining, birds chirping, and the bumblebees were buzzing amid the cacophony of little voices from seven pre-K classes as they took turns to bring their garden to life after a long winter’s sleep in front of the Defense Supply Center Columbus’ Child Development Center June 8. The garden serves as an experiential learning experience and is an extension of the curriculum provided in the classroom.

DLA Energy Americas West bid farewell to Navy Cmdr. Frank Kim during a change of command ceremony at the Navy Golf Course in Cypress, California, June 13. The incoming commander, Navy Cmdr. Anas Maazouzi, was a previous operations officer and military deputy director at DLA Land and Maritime.

DSCC fuel point project to provide long-term solution for aging tanks

Three 10,000-gallon fuel tanks were installed at Defense Supply Center Columbus June 1, marking the beginning of a long-term project at the installation’s fuel point to replace aging underground fuel storage tanks with above-ground tanks.
