DLA Distribution Yokosuka prepares to manage Japan’s Transportation Protective Service program

YOKOSUKA, Japan — As part of an effort to increase support to the warfighter, Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Yokosuka, Japan, is preparing to manage Japan’s Transportation Protective Service program. This effort gives DLA responsibility for freight within mainland Japan that requires TPS, including classified, sensitive, and hazardous material.

DLA Land and Maritime’s focus on workforce culture just took an enormous surge forward by restructuring and strengthening its cultural initiatives through the establishment of the new People and Culture directorate. The agency is working through an organizational realignment to fully integrate the new directorate.

As part of the Better Buying Power 3.0 initiative to drive down costs and provide faster service, the DLA Land and Maritime Strategic Acquisitions Program Directorate has long-term contracts covering 52,000 items representing more than $650 million in annual spending.

DLA Troop Support Pacific supported Kubasaki High School in Okinawa, Japan with a new rubber track, repairs on their bleachers and updated bathroom fixtures. Kubasaki is a Department of Defense Education Activity school for department civilians located on a Marine camp.
