DLA Distribution commander lauded for establishing forward-deployed teams

Fort Belvoir, Virginia — Former Defense Logistics Agency Distribution commander retired Army Maj. Gen. Michael J. Lally III will be inducted into the DLA Hall of Fame June 26 for his numerous accomplishments including establishing four DLA distribution centers.

Retired Navy Vice Admiral Mark Harnitchek will be inducted into the DLA Hall of Fame July 25. He was the agency’s director from November 2011 to December 2014, one of the busiest periods in military history.

DLA Hall of Fame welcomes progressive, efficiency-driven leader 

Retired Navy Vice Admiral Mark Harnitchek, a progressive leader known for telling employees “Define what success looks like and figure out how to get there,” will be inducted into the Defense Logistics Agency Hall of Fame June 25. 

Lora Conrad, a key leader in initiatives that modernized DLA’s processes and drove efficiencies through innovative technology is being inducted into the DLA Hall of Fame June 26.

Lora Conrad, a key leader in initiatives that modernized the Defense Logistics Agency’s processes and drove efficiencies through innovative technology is being inducted into the DLA Hall of Fame June 26.

Air Force Maj. Gen. Allan E. Day is replacing Air Force Maj. Gen. Mark Johnson as director of Defense Logistics Agency Logistics Operations at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.

Day takes charge of DLA Logistics Operations 

Air Force Maj. Gen. Allan E. Day assumed the role as director of Defense Logistics Agency Logistics Operations June 17. He replaced Air Force Maj. Gen. Mark Johnson.

R&D program manager receives innovation award

Senthil Arul, who leads the Defense Logistics Information Research Program in R&D, was named one of AAGEN’s Innovative Leaders in Defense at its 2019 Leadership Workshop June 6 in Crystal City, Virginia. The award recognizes civilian and military leaders from throughout DoD who have embraced and promoted innovation during their careers.

DLA, DoD IT professionals share business system practices, efficiencies

Chantilly, Virginia — Defense Logistics Agency senior leaders hosted colleagues from the services and various Department of Defense agencies at the Cross Service Program Executive Officer Summit in Chantilly, Virginia, in May.

The three most common types of mishaps for DLA employees are all preventable. They include being caught in or between and struck by objects; slips, trips and falls; and overexertion.

Safety officials share tips to avoid work-related mishaps

DLA employees experienced 694 mishaps in 2018 resulting in employees being away from work 1,321 days and having 5,241 days of restricted duty. Injuries affected employees’ personal lives and their co-workers, and hindered DLA’s ability to accomplish its mission.

McNamara Heaquarters Complex employees celebrated the Army's 244th birthday June 11 with veterans of the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Washington, D.C., and soldiers from the Warrior Transition Unit on Fort Belvoir, Virginia, present.
