DLA Troop Support Headquarters dedication ceremony honors local historical figure Israel Whelen

The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support dedicated its headquarters building in Northeast Philadelphia in honor of local historical figure as a symbol of its workforce during a dedication ceremony Sept. 23, 2021 in Philadelphia. DLA Troop Support Commander Army Brig. Gen. Eric P. Shirley presided over the ceremony honoring Whelen, Purveyor of Public Supplies in Philadelphia from 1800-1806 and former proprietor of Nitre Hall in Haverford, relating his description of duties in preparations for the Lewis and Clark Expedition to the modern workforce and the 222 years of logistics excellence rooted in the city.

DLA, SOUTHCOM deliver mobile hospital to Suriname

The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support provided a mobile hospital package to U.S. Southern Command, who officially donated it to the country of Suriname during a ceremony July 23 to assist in their COVID-19 relief efforts. The field hospital was procured by DLA Troop Support’s Construction and Equipment supply chain for the Department of Defense’s Humanitarian Assistance Program, or HAP, and is part of a multi-phase effort to assist Caribbean, Central American and South American nations in the pandemic.
