DLA Research & Development's Defense Logistics Information Research program researches core technologies to improve the quality, security and interoperability of logistics data.

DLA Research & Development's Energy Readiness Program directly supports the DOD class III bulk fuel and energy supply system through a multi-faceted approach to addressing current and future issues connected to the entire spans of the system.

DLA Research & Development's Forging program includes work to develop new and improved forging capabilities in the areas of inspection, design, modeling and manufacturing processes. The implementation of these capabilities will support the forging industry, where the technologies will be tested, implemented, and in turn, benefit the DLA and the DOD.

The LTR program leverages the application of leading-edge logistics “out-of-the box” concepts using business tools driven by disruptive technology to provide global logistics support.

The DLA R&D Metal Casting program includes work in developing new and improved metal casting capabilities in the areas of inspection, materials, processes, modeling, tooling, prototyping, and design. The implementation of these capabilities will support the foundry industry, where the technology will be tested and in turn, benefit the DLA and DOD.

DLA Research & Development's Military Unique Sustainment Technology program is an industrial preparedness manufacturing technology program that promotes manufacturing and logistics improvements in troop support clothing and textiles issues.

DLA Research & Development's Small Business Innovation Programs aim to resolve warfighter requirements with the scientific excellence and technological innovation offered by the U.S. small business industrial base. The SBIP works to transition innovative technologies and modernize legacy solutions in support of the Department of War Programs of Record.

DLA Research & Development's Strategic Distribution and Disposition program aims to advance innovation, science & technology into DLA’s distribution/disposition network through research & development of technology solutions, specifically smart-warehouses for DLA in order to optimize warehouse operations to efficiently & effectively sustain warfighter readiness.

DLA Research & Development's Subsistence Network drives manufacturing and logistics improvements across the subsistence supply chain. The program leverages emerging technologies and fosters innovation to modernize and enhance the full spectrum of subsistence operations.
