DLA Land & Maritime (L&M) is the land and maritime supply chain manager for DLA and is headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. L&M provides land weapon systems and maritime weapon systems support to the defense community and other governmental customers.

The LDI course provides an in-depth review of all information contained within a National Stock Number (NSN) and related data elements contained within a Total Item Record (TIR). The Federal Logistics Information System (FLIS) TIR is analyzed and interpreted using standard DLA products and services.

A National Stock Number (also known as a NATO Stock Number) is simply the official label applied to an item of supply that is repeatedly procured, stocked, stored, issued, and used throughout the federal supply system.

A National Stock Number is the official label applied to each item recurrently used, bought, stocked, or distributed by the Department of Defense (DOD). When a NSN is assigned to an item, data is assembled to describe that item. Some data elements include information such as an item name, manufacturer's part number, unit price, and physical and performance characteristics.

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Codification System (NCS) is governed by the NATO Allied Committee 135 (AC/135) and is composed of representatives from each NATO and partner nation along with the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA), which is NATO's principal logistics support management agency.
