DLMS Activity Report May 2025
Volume 2 Issue 5
Summer has arrived! It is a great time to plan and implement Defense Logistics Management System (DLMS) changes!
DEDSO: Solving Interoperability Challenges
When interoperability became one of the latest hot terms, the Defense Enterprise Data Standards Office (DEDSO) was quick to raise its hand and say – “We do that!” As the Executive Agent for the Defense Logistics Management Standards (DLMS), DEDSO is involved in many interesting and sometimes unusual projects. Since we are tied into interoperability requirements across the Department of Defense (DoD), you will find a DEDSOnian lurking in many a meeting, ready with a “we’ve got a transaction for that!” or even a DLMS-free suggestion of “maybe we can find you another solution.” You might also hear your local DEDSOnians muttering about how we can cook- up something brand new to patch the latest capability gap, like we have for Federal Logistics Information System cataloging, G-Invoicing, hazardous material handling, or Warehouse Management System modernization efforts.
Recently, DEDSO joined an F-35 DoD Working Group to collaborate on the plan to transition away from contractor inventory management to achieve a balanced accountable property record using the already fully DLMS-compliant Enterprise Logistics Management System. DEDSO also participated in the Office of the Secretary of Defense’s Provisioning and Cataloging Summit to introduce DLMS capabilities and explore if DLMS is the right fit to support Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) 339 engineering support processes. The DLA Additive Manufacturing (AM) team also reached out to us to explore developing data standards for sharing AM technical data packages. Such examples highlight how nimble and agile DEDSO must be to pivot, learn, and guide emerging missions with our usual aplomb and adeptness.
Sometimes our mission isn’t explicitly new, but the nuance of the project leads us down interesting paths. For example, did you know DEDSO has a role in how weapons displayed in DoD museums are catalogued and identified? Or that we have a hand in developing new Security Assistance Program finance codes to keep Foreign Military Sales activities audit ready? We also support the United States Department of Agriculture School Lunch Program, ensuring our kids get their walking tacos and (in)famous school pizza slice.
So, if you are in a meeting and conversations turn into “how do we get system X to do Y for us…” invite your favorite DEDSOnian, and we will help you solve that interoperability challenge.

APPROVED DLMS CHANGE (ADC) IN MAY:
Approved Change 1460A: This change replaces ADC 1460 in its entirety. Updates the pre-positioned release order process using a supporting maintenance document number. Your Action: This change only impacts the DLA WMS and Air Force D035K systems.
GAMECHANGER: ADC searchable library here (CAC-restricted).
PROPOSED DLMS CHANGES (PDCs): See all PDCs in development, coordination, or on hold by clicking here.
IMPLEMENTED/WITHDRAWN DLMS CHANGES: We have been working hard to clean out some of our older ADCs to make implementation clearer. Find those documents here.

SOME ACTIVITIES FROM MAY:
Support to the OSD Provisioning & Cataloging Summit & Workshop
We provided an overview of the DLMS to the provisioning and cataloging community on May 19, 2025. The overview was to highlight the potential capabilities to standardize both the provisioning process and data while automating several manual efforts using electronic data interfaces.
Triggering Events for FOB Origin & Destination Billing
The Finance Team met with the Marine Corps and DLA Finance on May 19, 2025, to discuss billing triggering events for both free-on board (FOB) origin and destination to ensure DLMS-enabled accounting processes trigger simultaneously for both buyer and seller based on supply signals.
DLMS 842P Implementation
The Product Quality Deficiency Reporting (PQDR) Team met with representatives from the Product Data Reporting and Evaluation Program (PDREP), Enterprise Business System (EBS), and Joint Deficiency Reporting System (JDRS) to discuss implementation of DLMS 842P transaction to further automate the PQDR process.
Serialized Control Determination
On May 5, 2025, our Supply Team participated in a working group with trading partners to clarify the application of DLMS (DLMS) visibility requirements for M18 training pistols.
F-35 Program Increment 1 Support
We supported the first increment of the F-35 audit and material weakness remediation effort in Lorton, Virginia. The team developed data solutions between relevant logistics IT systems using existing DLMS transactions to support the establishment of an initial trial balance and accountable property records for the program.
