New DLA mapping process saves money, time while improving support

DLA Information Operations must provide a copy of each of its 165,000-plus maps, charts and other products to the Library of Congress. A DLA team, working with the LOC and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, developed a new way to do so that will save taxpayers about $800,000 in the next five years, while making these products more accessible.

Mapmakers on Fort Bragg keep troops on the right path

As hurricanes Irma and Maria tore across parts of the United States last year, thousands of troops from several military installations prepared for humanitarian relief missions to clear roads, restore power and provide food and clean water. At the same time, a small team of Defense Logistics Agency civilians at Fort Bragg were working to ensure those deploying troops knew where they were going and where to go once they got there.

The string of hurricanes that hit the U.S. Gulf Coast, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands in August and September required immediate action, most notably printing maps and providing communications and IT support for emergency response.
