Marine Infantry Packs a Logistics Punch on Australian Beach

MIDGE POINT, QLD, Australia — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Marine Corps Forces Pacific website — Several hundred U.S. Marine Corps infantrymen of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit landed yesterday on the beach at Midge Point in Queensland, Australia. With them were trucks, spare parts, mechanics, fuel, communications gear and everything else needed to support the infantry in a fight as part of Exercise Talisman Sabre 2023 — the U.S.-Australia exercise that included a dozen other partner nations.

“We cross-train Marines in every aspect of combat logistics, preparing them for the field and for any situation because when you’re a Marine, you are able to adapt and overcome,” said Corporal Christian Gomez, a supply specialist with CLB-31.

AT SEA — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit website — Combat Logistics Battalion 31 is the Logistics Combat Element of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. CLB-31 provides all elements of the MEU with combat service support and is comprised of various sections, to include motor transportation, engineers, explosive ordnance, maintenance, supply, landing support, and communications and health service support.

Rounds, Rations, and Wrenches; Behind the Scenes with S-4 Logistics

CAMP HANSEN, OKINAWA, JAPAN — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the III Marine Expeditionary Force website — Rounds, rations and wrenches. Marines see this trio quite often. They’re given a meal ready to eat, issued rounds and their Humvees are sent out daily, but how did all of this make it into the fight? All a Marine needs to do is head to the command post of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit and see its logistical hub, the S-4 section.

Heavy Lifting: Landing Support Platoon refines external lift capabilities

CAMP HANSEN, Okinawa, Japan — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Marines website — Marines with Landing Support Platoon, Combat Logistics Battalion 31, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, conducted annual helicopter support team and external load lift training Dec. 5-8, 2016, working with pilots from Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 262 (Reinforced).

AT SEA -- The USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD-6) refuels and receives supplies during a replenishment at sea in the Pacific Ocean, Sept. 12, 2016. During replenishments at sea, Navy MH-60S Seahawk helicopters ferry food and supplies from Navy supply ships to the ships of the Bonhomme Richard Expeditionary Strike Group. The 31st MEU is the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed Marine Air-Ground Task Force, and combines air-ground-logistics into a single team capable of addressing a range of military operations in the Asia-Pacific region – from force protection and maritime security to humanitarian assistance and disaster relief in cooperation with host countries and partner militaries.
