DLA Aviation at Jacksonville welcomes new commander, retires another

In a ceremony rich with Navy traditions, Air Force Brig. Gen. Allan Day, Defense Logistics Agency Aviation commander, hosted a change of command and retirement ceremony for outgoing DLA Aviation at Jacksonville Site Commander Navy Cmdr. Maurice Meagher, III and incoming Navy Cmdr. Daniel Bessman at Hangar 117 on Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Florida, May 25.

Army Lt. Col. Michael L. Lindley assumed command of Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Anniston, Ala., in a ceremony June 1. The ceremony was officiated by DLA Distribution commander Army Brig. Gen. Richard Dix.

DSCR celebrates Holocaust Days of Remembrance

Holocaust is a Greek word meaning "sacrifice by fire." According to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, District of Columbia, the Holocaust was the systematic, bureaucratic, state-sponsored persecution and murder of six million Jews by the Nazi regime and its collaborators. The Nazis, who came to power in Germany in January 1933, believed that Germans were "racially superior" and that the Jews, deemed "inferior," were an alien threat to the so-called German racial community.

Small named DLA Aviation Employee of the Month

Defense Logistics Agency Aviation at Ogden employee Melissa Small was honored as the March 2016 Employee of the Month in a ceremony May 19. Small works remotely from Huntsville, Alabama, as a contracting officer aligned with DLA Aviation’s Strategic Acquisition Programs Directorate in Ogden, Utah.

Elias Dungca looked at his apartment on fire and knew that he was going to lose everything in it. His faith, family and friends helped Dungca’s family resiliently overcome the fire that destroyed their home in October 2014.

April is Sexual Assault and Prevention Month. “Eliminate Sexual Assault: Know Your Part, Do Your Part” is this year’s theme. To help provide on-the-spot employee resources, Defense Logistics Agency Aviation will soon field a new mobile application called “We Care Aviation.”

FMWR offers spring and summer events for employees

Spring is in the air and warm weather is coming, even though in Virginia, we sometimes wonder when it will finally get here. Defense Logistics Agency Installation Support at Richmond’s Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation Office is busy planning spring and summer activities. They also have a variety of summer equipment available for employees to rent and discount tickets for amusement parks, movies, and sporting events.
