DLA Distribution Europe supports Turkey humanitarian mission virtually

Japan distribution center empowers workforce through culture improvements

YOKOSUKA, Japan — Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Yokosuka, Japan, is a unique workforce that supports U.S. forces in the region, but is largely made up of local national employees. To help improve communication and empowerment of these employees, the distribution center established a Command Culture Center of Excellence and Diversity Inclusion Committee, responsible for addressing the constant change and modification that improving culture requires.

Norfolk’s Hayes receives Employee of the Quarter Award

NORFOLK, Virginia — Christina Hayes, safety specialist at Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Norfolk, Va., has received DLA Distribution’s Employee of the Quarter award for first quarter, fiscal year 2016, for her administration of the safety, environmental, and occupational health programs at one of Norfolk’s detachment locations in Portsmouth, Va.

Bahrain distribution center participates in Army Watercraft testing mission

MANAMA, Bahrain — Due to an increase in responsibilities, DLA Distribution Bahrain was looking to tap into agency resources within the region, coordinating with DLA Disposition Kuwait to determine if demilitarization capabilities existed within its local mission. At the same time and as part of the process to establish the Trans Arabian Network, DLA Support Team - Kuwait was looking for opportunities to test the Army Watercraft mission.

Combined Arms Leadership Development Exercise at DLA Distribution

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — University students from Penn State, Lock Haven, and Bucknell Reserve Officers Training Corps programs, visited Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Jan. 29 to discuss how the organization delivers effective logistics solutions to customers around the globe. The visit was part of the ROTC Combined Arms Leadership Development Exercise aimed to enhance cadets ‘professional experience and leadership skills

Port Hueneme’s team supports annual Antarctic resupply mission

PORT HUENEME, California — Each year, the Preservation, Packaging, Packing and Marking Team at Defense Logistics Agency Distribution San Diego at Port Hueneme, California, supports the National Science Foundation’s Antarctic research mission by helping load the NSF research ship. Due to Antarctica's harsh climate, the resupply occurs in January — summertime on the continent — when the ice is thinnest.

Richmond quality assurance specialist named DLA Aviation’s December Employee of the Month

RICHMOND, Virginia — Defense Logistics Agency Aviation’s December Employee of the Month (EOM) is Russ Garzon. He serves as a quality assurance specialist for DLA Aviation Engineering Directorate’s Value Engineering Team at Richmond, Virginia. DLA Aviation Commander Air Force Brig. Gen. Allan Day presented Garzon the award during a ceremony Jan. 28.
