Toys for Tots donations at DLA Aviation in Richmond, Jacksonville reach close to 2,000
RICHMOND, VA — Marine Staff Sgt. Spencer Butler reflected on this season of giving as he collected two boxes overflowing with toys sitting in the front lobby of the DLA Aviation Operations Center on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, Dec. 16. Butler, a customer account specialist, Marine Corps Customer Facing Division, Customer Operations Directorate, Defense Logistics Agency Aviation, Richmond, Virginia, said a total of six boxes were placed around various locations on DLA Aviation as part of this year’s Toys for Tots campaign.

Team building event forges strong bonds between DLA Aviation employees and needy families
RICHMOND, VA — On a chilly, but somewhat sunny Dec. 10 afternoon, a team of folks from Defense Logistics Agency Aviation, led by Marita Beckles, branch chief, Foreign Military Sales and Civil Aviation Team, Air Force Customer Facing Division, Customer Operations Directorate, spent part of their morning inside an abandoned sporting goods store at Stony Point Mall in Richmond, Virginia. Giving back goes beyond brightly colored bows and wrapping paper at DSCR
RICHMOND, VA — On any given day, the bays at the fire department on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, are normally filled with giant red fire trucks and other emergency vehicles. But, once a year for a two-hour time frame on a pre-selected day in December, this year it was the 12th, children’s bikes and brightly wrapped Christmas gifts transform the bays into a Santa’s workshop as part of the 2019 Angel Tree program.

Bensley students warm up DSCR tree lighting ceremony with “Hot Chocolate”
Richmond, Va. — The holiday season can be tricky when it comes to Virginia weather. Like a polar vortex in reverse, warm weather made its appearance during the 2019 Tree Lighting Ceremony on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, Dec. 10. Despite the unseasonably mild temperatures, nearly 400 Defense Logistics Agency military and civilian employees and military members from other organizations on the installation were still able to experience what the Bensley Elementary School’s fifth-grade chorus sang about: “This Magic Season.”
