DLA Aviation Leader Commentary: Employee embodies picture of resilience

RICHMOND, Va. — Over the last year, Defense Logistics Agency has invested valuable time and resources into training employees in the four pillars of resiliency: mental, social, spiritual and physical. If you look around DLA Aviation, you can find examples of employees applying resiliency tools and overcoming obstacles; but, few portray a “picture of resilience” as well as Marc Miller.

New maintenance response vehicle helps disabled GOVs get back on the road

RICHMOND, Va. — Defense Logistics Agency Installation Support at Richmond’s Customer Support Division has developed and built a new General Services Administration maintenance response vehicle, known in short as a MRV, to respond to disabled government vehicles on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia.

DLA Aviation at Jacksonville welcomes new commander, retires another

In a ceremony rich with Navy traditions, Air Force Brig. Gen. Allan Day, Defense Logistics Agency Aviation commander, hosted a change of command and retirement ceremony for outgoing DLA Aviation at Jacksonville Site Commander Navy Cmdr. Maurice Meagher, III and incoming Navy Cmdr. Daniel Bessman at Hangar 117 on Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Florida, May 25.

Defense Logistics Agency Aviation will soon begin using a new DLA Aviation Process Excellence methodology known as APEx. APEx tools, like the Leadership Model tool, enhance the way we manage, evaluate, refine, and communicate process design.

Small named DLA Aviation Employee of the Month

Small works remotely from Huntsville, Alabama, as a contracting officer aligned with DLA Aviation’s Strategic Acquisition Programs Directorate in Ogden, Utah.

DLA Aviation helps keep the Thunderbolt II mission ready

RICHMOND, Va. — Trying to maintain an antique machine is a challenge for any collector or parts provider whether it’s a bicycle, a car, or a multiple-million-dollar weapon system flying critical missions keeping Americans safe at home and abroad. The A-10 is one such system whose length of service has recently been extended until 2022.

Studevant selected as DLA Aviation’s 2016 Hall of Fame inductee

RICHMOND, Virginia — Mary Studevant, former deputy director of what is now known as Defense Logistics Agency Installation Support at Richmond, has been selected for the 2016 DLA Aviation Hall of Fame. An induction ceremony will be at 1 p.m. June 16 in the Frank B. Lotts Conference Center, Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia.

AFCAT team leads technology transfer seminar

RICHMOND, VA — Twenty-two Defense Logistics Agency Aviation employees visited two industrial facilities April 19-20 to gain a better understanding, from a manufacture’s perspective, of issues involved in casting and forging.

May is 9-1-1 Awareness Month at Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia. Fire and Emergency Services stress the importance of what information is needed during emergencies to help first responders when making calls to 9-1-1.
