Painting, woodworking and decorating miniature military aircraft helps spread holiday cheer across DLA Aviation

RICHMOND, VA — During this time of holiday cheer, many across the Defense Logistics Agency Aviation enterprise took time to give back to their communities or enjoy time with co-workers during office holiday parties. DLA Aviation Public Affairs asked you to send us photos and the response was overwhelming. We received dozens of photos showing off creative outfits, office parties, festive office decorations and boxes and boxes of gifts to be donated to those in need in your local communities. Former Marine remembers, pays tribute to those far from home during the holidays

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. — As an equipment program manager with DLA Distribution Current Operations, retired Marine Maj. Paul Smith decided this year’s tribute to those deployed in harm’s way would be in the form a patriotic display in the third-floor lobby of the organization’s New Cumberland headquarters. There he and his co-workers created a display that includes an artificial holiday tree, miniature flags representing all military service branches and lights to set the whole thing off.

Toys for Tots donations at DLA Aviation in Richmond, Jacksonville reach close to 2,000

RICHMOND, VA — Marine Staff Sgt. Spencer Butler reflected on this season of giving as he collected two boxes overflowing with toys sitting in the front lobby of the DLA Aviation Operations Center on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, Dec. 16. Butler, a customer account specialist, Marine Corps Customer Facing Division, Customer Operations Directorate, Defense Logistics Agency Aviation, Richmond, Virginia, said a total of six boxes were placed around various locations on DLA Aviation as part of this year’s Toys for Tots campaign.

Giving back goes beyond brightly colored bows and wrapping paper at DSCR

RICHMOND, VA — On any given day, the bays at the fire department on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, are normally filled with giant red fire trucks and other emergency vehicles. But, once a year for a two-hour time frame on a pre-selected day in December, this year it was the 12th, children’s bikes and brightly wrapped Christmas gifts transform the bays into a Santa’s workshop as part of the 2019 Angel Tree program.
