Tobyhanna distribution center hosts pilot of Foundations of High Performing Leadership program

As the first in a new pilot, leaders at Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Tobyhanna, Pa., recently completed the new Foundations of High Performing Leadership, a week-long training program designed to provide specific tools and knowledge to help plan, teach, and coach employees on a daily basis.

DLA Distribution focuses on hurricane and flood preparedness

Typically, the Atlantic hurricane season runs from June to November, and this season the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration predicts a 70 percent chance of six to 11 named storms, including three major hurricanes. As Hurricane Joaquin heads towards the east coast of the United States this weekend, DLA Distribution is urging employees to be prepared.

DLA Distribution headquarters hosts KPMG

As the external audit nears, DLA Distribution continues to prepare the agency for success. Recently, the organization welcomed three executive members from KPMG’s Management Consulting Advisory practice. Ken Drover, lead partner, Global Defense Center of Excellence, Patty St. George, partner, Federal Advisory and Jeff Langley, director, Supply Chain and Logistics, visited DLA Distribution for a discussion with leadership on operational and financial supply chain transformation. KPMG is the advisory firm currently assisting DLA Distribution prepare for the independent audit.

Defense Supply Center Richmond employees kicked off their annual Combined Federal Campaign Sept. 23 in the Frank B. Lotts Conference Center. The campaign runs through Dec. 15 and this year’s campaign theme is “Serving our Country, Supporting our Community.”

Cherry Point’s Corrales awarded DLA Distribution Company Grade Officer of the Quarter

Navy Lt. Jill Corrales, retail manager at Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Cherry Point, N.C., has received the Company Grade Officer of the Quarter award for third quarter, fiscal year 2015, for working closely with the Fleet Readiness Center-East, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing and other units onboard Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point to support the warfighter and ensure combat readiness.

DSCR celebrates Air Force's 68th birthday

On Sept. 21, the Defense Logistics Agency Aviation Air Force hosted the 68th Birthday celebration in the Frank B. Lotts Conference Center. The Employee Working Group who sponsors Warrior Wednesday, partnered with DLA Aviation Air Force team members to show continued support to our nation's warfighters and to build esprit de corps throughout the installation. In recognition and celebration of the event, employees wore Air Force blue that day.

Sang-Hwan So, a supply technician inspector at Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Korea, will hit a milestone in March 2016. That feat is the completion of 43 years of federal service, eight of which have been with DLA Distribution Korea.

Red River’s safety specialist supports MRAP DEMIL in Afghanistan

Kent Martz, a safety specialist at Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Red River, Texas, has spent the last six months in Afghanistan supporting the MRAP Demilitarization mission. Arriving in March 2015, he is expected to return home to Red River at the end of September 2015.

DLA Distribution practices the Continuity of Operations Plan during National Preparedness Month

Since 2002, the month of September has been observed as National Preparedness Month. September was chosen in memory of the attacks of September 11, 2001, and also because it coincides with the peak of the Atlantic hurricane season. Sponsored by the Federal Emergency Management Agency within the Department of Homeland Security, National Preparedness Month encourages Americans to take steps to prepare for emergencies in their homes, businesses, schools and communities. The national preparedness architecture encompasses prevention, protection, response, and recovery efforts to prepare the United States for all hazards – whether terrorist attack or natural disaster.
