DLA Distribution Tobyhanna changes command

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. — Missouri native Army Lt. Col. Robert J. West took command of Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania, from acting director Raymond Martin in a change of command ceremony May 17.

The fill stands and pump stations on Anderson Air Force Base, Guam, look shiny and new after receiving restorative coatings. The project is just a small part of an ongoing effort to protect vital fuel systems from the corrosion that pervades infrastructure on the tropical island. Preparing to take command

FORT BELVOIR, Va. — Seven prospective DLA Energy commanding officers and two departing commanders participated in a pre-command orientation at the McNamara Headquarters Complex, Fort Belvoir, Virginia, May 6-7. With seven regional change of commands scheduled for June and July, the two-day course is designed to prepare commanders for their role and responsibilities as fuel providers to Combatant Commanders.

DLA Energy Commander visits Pacific regional commands

Fuel storage facility tours and a ribbon cutting ceremony highlighted DLA Energy Commander Air Force Brig. Gen. Jimmy Canlas’ command familiarization tour to Alaska, Hawaii, and Guam, April 25-May 5. In his first official travel since taking command last June, Canlas hosted town halls at all three locations to meet and learn about his regional employees.

DLA delivers flu vaccine to warfighters in the southern hemisphere

PHILADELPHIA — The Defense Logistics Agency received 87,980 doses of a flu vaccine April 28 intended to support warfighters in the southern hemisphere to meet Department mandates. DLA Troop Support’s Medical directorate’s $1.25 million contract is in support of the March 2020 Defense Health Agency memo that requires service members stationed or performing duty in the southern hemisphere to receive an additional flu vaccine that targets strains affecting that region.
