PHILADELPHIA — Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support Medical employees worked through the Labor Day onward without breaking to expedite six contracts with a combined maximum value of just over $2.78 billion for up to 150 million over-the-counter and 400 million point-of-care COVID-19 test kits and in support of White House initiatives.

DLA Troop Support Headquarters dedication ceremony honors local historical figure Israel Whelen
PHILADELPHIA — The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support dedicated its headquarters building in Northeast Philadelphia in honor of local historical figure as a symbol of its workforce during a dedication ceremony Sept. 23, 2021 in Philadelphia. DLA Troop Support Commander Army Brig. Gen. Eric P. Shirley presided over the ceremony honoring Whelen, Purveyor of Public Supplies in Philadelphia from 1800-1806 and former proprietor of Nitre Hall in Haverford, relating his description of duties in preparations for the Lewis and Clark Expedition to the modern workforce and the 222 years of logistics excellence rooted in the city.
