DLA forward teams ensure warfighters receive Thanksgiving meals

KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany — DLA employees have worked since the spring to ensure military service members throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East can enjoy turkey, sweet potatoes and pies for Thanksgiving.

Navy officer promoted: thanks ‘God, family’ during ceremony

PHILADELPHIA — Navy Lt. Cmdr. Prince Tailey, from Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support’s Medical supply chain, was promoted during a ceremony held in front of family, friends and coworkers Nov. 22 in Philadelphia.

Subsistence, USDA partnership provides fresh produce to Native American tribes

PHILADELPHIA — For more than 20 years, the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support Subsistence supply chain has provided fresh fruits and vegetables across the country to Indian Tribal Organizations participating in the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations.

The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support bid farewell to two civilian employees during a retirement ceremony November 25 in Philadelphia. Sheila Taylor, from Military Personnel, retired after 36 years of service. Carolyn Dempsey, who worked in the Subsistence supply chain, retired after serving 31 years.

Philadelphia — The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support bid farewell to two civilian employees during a retirement ceremony November 25 in Philadelphia. Defense Logistics Agency delivers a “taste of home” to warfighters around the world

PHILADELPHIA — Warfighters around the world get to taste a home-cooked meal on Thanksgiving thanks to the efforts of Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support Subsistence supply chain employees. The preparation for the troops’ holiday meal starts as early as April. Many ingredients for the meals are on hand at prime vendor locations by September, and the overseas locations start receiving high-volume items, like the turkeys and more than 131 tons of trimmings, in October.

Troop Support “stands down” for safety, resiliency

PHILADELPHIA — Employees from the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support were educated on warning signs of stress overload and ways to balance work and personal life during a “Safety Stand Down” event Nov. 21 in Philadelphia. Throughout the day, employees had opportunities to attend a presentation from DLA Chaplain Army Col. Robert Wichman, speak one-on-one with him and participate in discussions focused on safety and resilience.

There were 139 graduates in the Defense Logistics Agency Pathways to Career Excellence Program from DLA Troop Support. There were graduates from each of DLA Troop Support’s five supply chains, as well as the Philadelphia offices of DLA Contracting Services and DLA Aviation. The graduation ceremony was held at DLA Troop Support headquarters in Philadelphia on Nov. 19, 2019.

Philadelphia — The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support celebrated the most recent group of students to complete the Pathways to Career Excellence Program during a graduation ceremony Nov. 19 in Philadelphia.

Susan McMullen, DLA Troop Support Project Manager, and other women from various industries across Northeast Philadelphia gathered in an auditorium at Holy Family University to share their stories during the Greater Northeast Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce annual Women in Industry Day event Nov. 20, 2019 in Philadelphia.

Troop Support improves international relief readiness through USAID course

PHILADELPHIA — The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support hosted the Joint Humanitarian Operations Course led by the U.S. Agency for International Development’s Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance in Philadelphia Nov. 13-14.

Philadelphia — During an annual chili cook-off, held Nov. 20, 2019, 12 members of the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support workforce battled it out for the bragging rights to the best chili. The event was organized as an awareness event for the Combined Federal Campaign.
