Army Reserve team provides essential support to DLA Distribution Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania

TOBYHANNA, Pa. — The Army Reserve 490th Quartermaster Company has augmented DLA Distribution Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania since June 2017. The unit, on special assignment to DDTP, and led by Master Sgt. Mark Swarr, and Sgt. 1st Class Nicholas Marou, DLA Distribution J9, facilitated the growth and warfighter readiness of six subordinate soldiers.

DLA Distribution Commanding Officer visits DLA Distribution San Joaquin

TRACY, Calif. — DLA Distribution San Joaquin’s leadership team and employees had the opportunity to host DLA Distribution Commanding Officer Navy Rear Adm. Kevin Jones during his first trip to the Tracy, California distribution center July 31 – Aug.1. Jones spent two days on site receiving briefs, touring mission areas and conducted a Town Hall for the San Joaquin team.

DLA optimizes installation management

Fort Belvoir, Virginia — In early summer 2018, Defense Logistics Agency Director Army Lt. Gen. Darrell Williams rescinded a March 2017 change that separated DLA Installation Management and Installation Operations into distinct entities. The decision to “re-merge” the two offices to maintain the synergy, effectiveness and efficiency of having one Installation Management organization became effective August 6.

A team from the Defense Logistics Agency’s Analytics Center of Excellence at a recent workshop identified more than two dozen DLA processes to which artificial intelligence and machine learning could someday bring greater efficiency and lower risk — in line with goals set in the DLA Strategic Plan.

New policy prohibits DoD employees from using GPS services in operational areas

Employees are now barred from using geolocation features on personal and government-issued devices in operational areas including deployed locations and sensitive bases, according to a new Department of Defense policy.
