Full-scale exercise tests installation preparedness, emergency response

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. — Throughout the week of October 15, the Defense Distribution Center, Susquehanna installation was a host to a flurry of unusual activity: protestors, structural collapses and even a dumpster fire.

Second DLA ball promotes pomp, purpose, people

Springfield, Virginia — DLA Director Army Lt. Gen. Darrell Williams, who often uses the phrase "the secret sauce of warfighter support" as a description of DLA’s people, invited friends, family members, former DLA employees and dignitaries to enjoy an evening of entertainment, history, fanfare and military traditions during the second annual DLA Ball, Nov. 1. Special guests included guest speaker, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Sustainment Robert McMahon and his wife, Hope, along with Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment Ellen Lord, and her husband, Geoff.

Jacksonville distribution team tours local Amazon Distribution Center

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — On October 18 the DLA Distribution Jacksonville, Florida team toured their local Amazon Distribution Center. The purpose of the visit was to gain innovative ideas related to distribution operations being performed at a non-government distribution center.

F1 tornado touches down at Oklahoma City distribution center

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — On Tuesday, Oct. 9 at approximately 8:10 a.m. central time, an F1 tornado touched down in vicinity of DLA Distribution Oklahoma City, Oklahoma’s buildings 510 and 506. Personnel were directed to take shelter and command was able to obtain 100 percent accountability with zero injuries.

Former retail leader teaches lessons in supply chain management

Fort Belvoir, Virginia — During an Oct. 30 professional-development session on supply-chain management at the McNamara Headquarters Complex, Defense Logistics Agency Director Army Lt. Gen. Darrell Williams hosted Chris Sultemeier, former president and CEO of Walmart Transportation and later, executive vice president of logistics for Walmart Stores. Sultemeier relayed stories and advice from his 30-year career spanning military service and the private sector to leaders of DLA headquarters organizations and major subordinate commands.

Family Advocacy and MWR Susquehanna bring awareness to Domestic Violence with Run/Walk event

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. — October is Domestic Violence Awareness month. The Family Advocacy Program and the MWR Susquehanna Sports and Fitness Department helped raise awareness of domestic violence by hosting a 5K Fun Run/1-Mile Walk here Oct. 17, at the Fitness Center.

21st Theater Support Command Senior Enlisted Advisor visits DLA Distribution Susquehanna, Pennsylvania

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. — 21st Theater Sustainment Command’s Senior Enlisted Advisor, Command Sgt. Maj. Rocky Carr, visited DLA Distribution Susquehanna Pennsylvania, Oct. 11. The purpose of his visit was to receive an orientation of DLA Distribution’s mission and function, tour the Eastern Distribution Center, receive operations briefings, and visit with personnel.
