Distribution’s aide-de-camp receives Defense Meritorious Service Medal

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — Army Capt. Domonick Sylve, aide-de-camp to the Defense Logistics Agency Distribution commander, was awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal on July 9 for his skillful planning and managing of the day-to-day mission requirements of the commanding general of DLA Distribution, Army Brig. Gen. Richard Dix.

New London assistant site director recognizes local children at Groton ROCKS program

NEW LONDON, Connecticut — As part of the Groton ROCKS program, Navy Lt. Cmdr. Brett Sandman, assistant site director of DLA Distribution Norfolk, Va., at New London, Conn., recently spoke to children from Northeast Academy, who were honored for their achievements through the program.

Warner Robins’ Neal awarded DLA Distribution Special Services Civilian of the Year Award

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia — Wallace Neal, materiel examiner and identifier in Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Warner Robins, Ga.’s Special Commodities branch has been awarded the DLA Distribution Special Services Civilian of the Year Award for his expert handling of the site’s hazardous materiel.

Navy Capt. Harry T. Thetford, commander, DLA Distribution Norfolk describes Operation Pacer Goose as “a joint operation that takes an immense amount of teamwork.”

DLA Distribution Norfolk team player with Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard in Pacer Goose 2015

NORFOLK, Virginia — In early July, the Ocean Giant set sail from Norfolk Naval Base with 2 million pounds of supplies on an 11-day voyage to the U.S. Armed Forces’ northernmost military installation in the world. Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Norfolk, Va., was part of the team tasked with the U.S. Space Command’s yearly surface resupply for 650 U.S. Air Force personnel at Thule Air Force Base, Greenland, in support of Operation Pacer Goose 2015.

Europe’s Bruner awarded Global Distribution Excellence: Vehicle and Material Handling Equipment Operator Civilian Supervisor/Leader of the Year

GERMERSHEIM, Germany — Lawrence Bruner, materials handler supervisor at Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Europe, has been awarded the Global Distribution Excellence: Vehicle and Material Handling Equipment Operator Supervisor/Leader of the Year award for his efforts in the distribution center’s Theater Consolidation and Shipping Point, or TCSP.

Foreign military officers enrolled in the Navy Supply Corps School’s International Leadership Executive Advanced Development course visited Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Susquehanna, Pa., on Jul. 7 to learn about DLA’s global distribution network and tour the Department of Defense’s largest distribution facility.

MONROVIA, Liberia — Jason Zeppuhar had been with DLA Distribution’s Expeditionary Team for two and half years and had previously deployed to assist with projects at Portsmouth, Va., and Ft. Knox. When he heard he was headed to Monrovia, Liberia, he was ready for a new challenge.

Distribution’s airborne riggers: Support on the ground and in the air

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — Among the boxes, air pallets, and trucks at Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Susquehanna, Pa., there is a unique team tucked in the midst: DLA’s only parachute rigger unit. The team’s set of responsibilities is unlike any other; not only do they provide mission receiving support like other distribution centers, they also provide parachute pack and maintenance activities for units across all military services.

DLA Distribution celebrates Vietnam War 50th anniversary

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — To kick off its participation in a federal, 13-year long commemoration of those that served during the Vietnam War, DLA Distribution hosted veterans Sgt. (Ret.) Joseph Boslet and re-enactor Timothy Meade from the U.S. Army Heritage Center in Carlisle, Pa.

San Joaquin achieves positive results during recent DoD IG Audit

SAN JOAQUIN, California — The DLA Distribution San Joaquin, Calif., team is doing their part in helping DLA remain on track to comply with DoD Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness, or FIAR, guidance. The team successfully completed their DoD Inspector General Audit, which focused on substantive testing on the Plan to Stock business cycle and San Joaquin’s inventory profile.
