DLA Distribution recognizes the U.S. Marines Corps

Defense Logistics Agency Distribution employees and leadership gathered to wish a collective “Happy Birthday” to the U.S. Marines Corps November 10, in honor of the service’s 240th birthday. November 10, 1775 was the day that the Continental Marines, later renamed the United States Marine Corps, was established and each year the nation celebrates United States Marine Corps Day.

Brian Farnsworth and Michael Verton, quality assurance evaluators at Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Tobyhanna, Pa., have received the Global Distribution Excellence: Quarterly Contract Quality Assurance Program Commendable Service award for their outstanding leadership and knowledge, which resulted in a 100 percent performance for three consecutive months.

More than 100 employees participated in the HQC Halloween 5K Run/Walk at the McNamara Headquarters Complex Nov. 5. The Morale, Welfare and Recreation Program office sponsored the zombie-themed event, which had been postponed from Oct. 28 due to inclement weather.

During the DLA Director’s inaugural visit to DLA Distribution in May, he was in the process of developing the Agency’s seven-year strategic plan. On Oct. 27, he returned to the field activity’s headquarters in New Cumberland, Pa., to update the workforce on the main tenants of the now complete plan.
