DLA prepares to act swiftly during hurricane season

Hurricane season runs from the early summer to late fall, but the Defense Logistics Agency prepares year-round to respond to natural disasters. In 2021, DLA provided $40 million in hurricane support, according to the Whole of Government Division. This included 752,000 gallons of fuel, 809,000 meals, 126 leased generators and 49 deployed civilians.

Navy Lt. Cmdr. Hugh Wilson is the winner of the Navy League’s Admiral Ben Moreell Award for Logistics Competence for his work with the Defense Logistics Agency’s COVID-19 Task Force. He will receive the award during the Navy League’s National Convention June 8-12 in Orlando, Florida. He is a joint logistics planner in DLA’s Agency Synchronization and Operations Center.

Farmers market returns to DLA

The weekly farmers market is making a comeback at the Defense Logistics Agency. Starting June 8, the market will be held every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. near the front doors of the Headquarters Complex. The last farmers market for the season will be Oct. 19.
