Asian American, Pacific Islander heritage celebrated in May

Each year, during the month of May, we celebrate and honor the contributions that Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders have made and the part they have played in the history of this country. This year’s theme is “Honoring the Past, Securing the Future!” The theme pays tribute to the Asian Americans, Pacific Islanders and Native Hawaiians who answered the call of selfless service by participating in the defense of our nation. This year’s theme coincides with the 75th Anniversary of World War II.

Federal workers have another opportunity to donate to the Combined Federal Campaign beginning today – this time in support of charities working overtime in the coronavirus pandemic fight. The U.S. Office of Personnel Management approved a special COVID-19 solicitation period running through June 30.

Fitness Center offers free online options for staying in shape during social distancing

The Defense Federal Community may no longer be able to attend in-person fitness classes at the Defense Supply Center Columbus Fitness Center but they still have a variety of virtual options for staying in shape to choose from thanks to the center’s fitness experts. When fitness centers across Ohio closed in late March to comply with the coronavirus pandemic’s social distancing requirements, the installation’s Fitness Center quickly responded by adding free virtual workout options, On-Demand videos and Workout of the Day plans.

The Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime received a shipment of approximately 1,500 cloth masks April 23 that are being issued to first responders and other essential members of the workforce as an additional protective measure against the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
